Castello dei Rampolla Amphore Toscana IGT

Dark red. Nose of cherries and tart. Apparent fruit in the mouth. Clear and clean sangiovese taste. Tight finish. Save for a couple og years. A bit of fizz in the beginning, but it went away after some decant. Traces of the amphoras. After a few hours of air a great wine came forth. Very special and interesting wine. Great experience!

The nose was ever-changing, showing tart cherry and ash, sometimes minerals, hints of tomato, herbs and Espagnole sauce. The longer it spent in decanter, the more it seemed to give. On the palate, it was lean with tart red fruits, and just a hint of fizz tingling the senses. Rock and mineral notes, with hints of grapefruit filled out the palate with a bitter twang that lasted into the close. It finished with a drying concentration of red fruit and …
