Decanted for 2 hours. Blackberry nose. Deep ruby color with medium legs. This greatly improved over the meal. Plum, tobacco, and slate were prominent.

Eucalyptus and licorice on the nose with some dark fruit. Lots of strawberry on the palate with pipe tobacco on the finish. Enjoyed with grilled steak, twice baked potatoes, and western style pinto beans. Paired great!

A mid $20s Napa Cabernet that is meant to be a moderately priced wine that gives the drinker an idea of how impressively tasty a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon can rightly be, enjoyable young while still being ageworthy, all without emptying your wallet. At 14 years old this wine has aged well. The cork was somewhat crumbly when pulled but without causing the wine to be flawed, largely thanks to the wine's having an opaque color with an inch pour, no …

Wasn't sure what to expect opening this one way past its window. Drank with grilled ribeye. Color was dark purple with no sign of age. Dark black ripe fruit and pepper on the nose. Fruit, graphite, and earthy stone on a long soft finish.

Winebar [4 Whites, 8 Reds, & 4 *shared* bottles] from 11/16/18] (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA) : THANK you for sharing this, Ed! :) N: Slightly closed; RIPE berries with toast & pyrazines, rest tough to parse P: LM body; NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by astringent pucker which transitions into a LONG, balanced finish with a very, VERY slight bitterness & a distinct swtness to the very, VERY fine tannins. For now & at least making its 20th, …

By far the best bottle. Much improved even over the one we had 5 months ago. Smooth, great fruit with a hint of tar. Long finish.

Dark brooding color. Faint aroma of dark fruits. On the palate hints of cherry and plum along with a hint of vanilla. The tannins are there but in a refined way. The finish was medium long. An excellent wine that is possibly at its peak.

Decated an tasted, very big, rich, concentrate and of course extracted. Dark, dark fruits, sweet, but not over done compared to some styles, over the top for many but on the border for the most.. No Donald Trump but extreme in a GOP way!

Not a lot there. Very one dimensional wine. So so fruit with not much else sticking out. There is not an Oakville characteristic i can pick out here. Hmmm. Is is closed or is it just the way it is made??

purple in the glass. nose is dominated by petrol and oak and even after a couple of hours can't get much on the fruit. In the mouth it is almost astringent and still strong on the tannins. Finish is fairly short. All in all...a drinkable bottle but not a repeat and better values at the price point exist.

Black fruit, currants and vanilla on the nose. Restrained tart black fruit, currant, and cocoa/vanilla mid palate, still a bit tight after 30-45 minutes in the glass but continued to open. Fruit began to reassert itself but never very boldly. Tannic and finishing long with a very tart and dry close. UPDATE: I had about half a bottle left, which I vacuum sealed and put in the refrigerator for about 36 hours. After returning it to room temperature, the fruit …

Let breathe two hours. Nose showed strong bell pepper and dark fruit. Mid-weight on the palate, fruit forward punch of candied dark berries, earth and bell pepper, with little to no finish. Vacuvin-ed last glass for next night and it showed hot tart thin sour cherry. A low $20's purchase at Costco a few years back, happy to have held.

Decent, but nothing to distinguish it as a good value. Agree with those who found it thin, but wasn't put off by it. More herbal and earthy than typical Cali cabs. Lots of fine sediment as others mentioned too. Nice nose and easy finish, just overpriced. Past it's peak.

Served at 55 degrees. Popped and poured at dinner at home. Dark black cherry. Nose was closed at first, then opened to roses, cedar and some vanilla. Medium body. Soft, rounded, velvety. Good fruit. Notes of dark cherry, cassis and currants. Light finish. This wine has aged very nicely.

Bright ruby appearance. The nose is a bit closed, but after a half hour in the glass, plum, black cherry, mixed berries, and leather come through and carry over to the palate. It's on the thin side of mid-bodied, but it's bright, fruit forward, and very fresh, displaying decent varietal typicity. Finishes with a short mineral note. Paired with grilled Burgundy Tri-tip and salmon at the Aliotta's. Thanks, G and family!

While I agree with many of the previous notes on this wine, in my experience, Raymond Reserve cabernet always drinks reasonably well when young, but for a wine in this price category ages exceedingly well. I do not think this wine has shown its best yet, and do not expect it to for 4-5 more years. The beautifully made 1998 is just coming into a peak in the last year or 2, and I had some '93 that was still …

Worried it might be past, but the wine cabinet seems to have done it's job. The nose was nice, if a bit tanniny at the end, but still a nice berry scent. Lots of sediment in the bottle, but very full bodied and smooth, a pleasant drinking wine.

I think CT users are substantially too optimistic about this wine. It has some decent varietal character, but it is somewhat thin and short-finishing. We had this previously in a blind tasting and it didn't fare well then either. With a steak, this did take on a bit of weight and it was better with food than without. I did pick up a cherry cola note that I liked. But I think there are a lot of better cabs at …
