In the decanter 3 hrs prior to drinking. Previous note 12 months ago almost stands, this is probably softer, more approachable and more enjoyable, albeit still big, black and savoury with not much else going on. Better than 12 months ago, maybe I'm harsh, it isnt offensive by any means. In its spot, it wont improve, drink over the next 2 years.

in the decanter 3 hrs prior to to drinking. Reading my previous review, i miss the primary elements. It is big, it is black, it’s savoury, but it is lacking weight on the mid, and on the mid to back. It is a bit disjointed, chewy, black IPA ish, no rounding on the back palate.

In the decanter 3 hours prior to drinking. Out the bottle it is vibrant purple which fades to ruby with time open. No bricking around the hue. A great Cambrian soil example, dense, brooding, hearty and savoury. Notes of dark fruits, black plums and black cherries, cloves, cardamon and liquorice. Tannins are a little hard and persistent but this is integrating well. Medium + finish. Enjoyed this. Drink over the next 5 years.

One hour in the decanter was not enough for this wine. The nose was understated and at first the tannic grip overcame the fruit on the palate. To my surprise, the wine softened considerably after more than 30 minutes in the glass. It may well be a better proposition tomorrow when the remaining half will be consumed. Not a wine to seamlessly slide down your throat at first however.

Nose shows strong notes of anise and rosemary, with tight black fruit and a hint of golden caramel. Palate is light-to-medium-bodied, with lots of light, smooth tannin. Flavours of red and black fruit, oak, and spice. Individual flavours are hard to identify, but this has a lot of great flavour, and feels like it can still improve when it opens up further.

Deep dark purple, thin crimson hue. Aroma of oak, pepper and light spice. Milk chocolate, stewed plum, smooth and creamy, peppery finish. Medium plus body, medium finish, medium minus acidity. An enjoyable wine, good body and fruit.

Rich, blue berries, plums, spice and leather on the nose. The palate has firm tannins, a good mouthfeel and a long finish. This is a quality cool climate Shiraz. Not worth the $55 asking price, but good value at $30 or so.

Inky purple. Complex, layered nose full of flowers, rich ripe dark plum, chocolate, five spice. Lush, velvety palate. Intense fruit lapping up the French oak. This is starting to drink very well. (94 Excellent wine)

This is going to be a very good wine, The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are slow. It tastes like toast and vanilla. The body is full. The wine finishes long.

Game of Rhones (Carriageworks, Redfern) : Black fruits, chocolate, over peppery spice and vanilla. Juicy but the fruit doesn't really carry on the palate though the chocolate does. Meh

The Mount Ida is one of the trio of flagship Shiraz releases from Seppelt, with the Mount Ida sourced from a 40 year old, dry grown vineyard in Heathcote. The wine has a youthful purple hue with tight grained french oak that is complemented by red berries and musk on the nose. There is some great fruit in this wine but you can't help but think it's hidden by a decadent sheath of oak, time will tell if all components …
