Pheasant's Tears, Rkatsiteli, Kakheti

Orangey yellow colour Nutty nose with floral notes Tannic, rich and nutty, nice texture. Fresh. Very accessible.

Some spritz, hint of nail polish and paint (VA), some tannins and other features from skin maceration, orange, lemon and some rind bitterness. Drank vintage '11 about 6 months ago which was incredibly barnyardy in a borderline bad way, and this '15 showed a totally different picture of this wine.

Medium golden amber color; savory, nutty, toasted almond, dried apricot, resin, sunflower oil, cardamom nose; tasty, savory, oily textured, sunflower oil, lemon oil palate with tangy, near medium acidity; medium-plus finish (12.5% alcohol) 91+ points

As close to a home made wine that my mother-in-law makes in Kakheti. Much more authentic than anything else I ever tasted that came from producers from Kakheti. However, home made stuff has lower alcohol percentage and very slightly carbonated - to my taste this makes rkatsiteli better. Should be decanted for at least an hour, and would complement grilled pork well.
