Tasted blind. Ringer for Pommard vs Volnay remote split wine session. Smells like a traditional Chinese medicine hall with paper wrapped medicinal herbs everywhere. Mushrooms sprouting also. No fruits - where did they go? Could be a flawed bottle or just that this bottle is not meant for ageing. The last time I had this in 2018 it was fine.

My third time with this and just as much in love at the first time. Perhaps even slightly better on day two, this is such a beautiful wine, with an understated elegance and plenty of varietal correctness and firm sense of place. 13,5% abv. highly recommended Served non-blind; tasted over 3 days. Feminine, structured, pure. https://italianwine.blog/

Think Burgundy. Think 1er. Now think plenty of time to fully ripen. Put everything together and what've you got, Pinot Nero from Monforte/Dogliani, silly. Only the third vintage from these young vines, but nothing's missing on the nose of palate. Medium-bodied, red-fruited, well-lifted and understated. At just €15 at the cantina, this is something I could drink every week with great satisfaction. 13,5% abv., drink thru 2020. recommended Slow-O 2 hours, served non-blind; drank just as well on day 2. …
