Full of vigor. Bright. Aromatic. Perfect foil for bouef Bourgogne. Purchased in 2007. Stored at 58 degrees. Balanced. Longish finish. Still full of life. Well done.

For some reason I seem to be getting a certain smokiness in many of my Pinots, this one included. Evolving nicely, primary fruit still there but that smokiness, what to do?

That is super pretty. Beautiful spice and red fruit. And taught structure and intensity.

Bright Bing cherry fruit, tense palate, straight, direct. Needs time to ease in.

Spicy and bold, with a direct palate, needs time but all there. Not the height, but they are a slamming value. Approchable and delicate and gorgeous notes the two MS gals around me.

More scone and baking spice to this. Andrew notes its tension. And indeed, it is tension.

A lovely, nimble Burgundy; light on its feet but layered with subtle flavors.

Popped and poured at restaurant. A fair bit of funk on opening, with a zippy tang to the fruit. Earth and red berries. Funk diminishes after about 45 minutes to reveal a very flavorful and medium complex Pinot Noir, unmistakably French. Great with food, and a decent QPR at ~$30.

This bottle showed really well. Immediately upon opening shows attractive and somewhat pungent earthy mushroomy notes underneath the very ripe but balanced dark fruit. The wine is lovely and is drinking very well now, and is entirely balanced. It shows the limitations of its terroir in that it doesn't have the complexity, breadth, or depth that a good wine from a greater vineyard shows. And that's fine - I paid under $30 for this in 2007 and I got more …

Had this a while ago; no formal notes, but I find this to be a scrumptious and refined example of Burgundy.

Pretty light ruby. Tart red fruits and red flowers on the nose, starting to coax out some of those secondary notes of earth and potpourri, but still predominantly fruit, slight hint of smoke. Tannins still strong but starting to feel approachable, the acid is tangy, the red fruits are crunchy and tart. I get moderate earthy and red floral notes, some rocky and mineral notes. Still tightly wound but its approachable. Opens up a lot more on day two, and …

Let me start by saying that this wine has a few important problems. It is close to overripe and this raw fruitiness is made less graceful by the alcohol, which sticks out a bit, especially after an hour or so open, and especially on the finish. Also, there is complexity but mostly in fruit aroma and taste, not of the type that I would normally appreciate in good red Burgundy. That said, the wine is delicious and I appreciate it. …

The first ten minutes thought it was corked, smelled like wet papers, earth and wet wood. Straight in the glass not decanted. Also in the taste Some alcohol and earth. It's a mature, round and fine wine. Very very long finish.Happy to have a few bottles left in my cellar. Think it can age longer, but think this is already perfection!

Slow-O'd for an hour. Good clear red color. Excellent Burgundy: medium bodied, very pure, no off notes.

Man, the first glass was wonderful easy drinking Burgundy, sweet cherry fruit with smoke and a flicker of earth. By the second glass the tannins make an appearance, spicy and firm finish. Then the whole thing closes up pretty quickly. If opening now, drink it quickly, or cellar another 3-4 years and try again.

Bingo! We visited Lafouge in September 2007 and bought several of their wines from Chambers St. This truly hits the spot. Bright red color. Fresh and lively nose of cherry, earth and a vegetable note. The wine is fresh and ripe, with cherries and sour cherries dominating the palate. There is some earthiness and vegetation which evolves with food. The finish is nice and tangy. A super effort from Lafouge, and I echo Keith's sentiments that this is a super …

Couldn't agree more. What Keith said. My own personal fave is the La Chappelle, but they're all good.

A posterboy for the excellence Burgundy can achieve at the $30 price point. This features exceptionally pure and well-delineated berry fruit with such a vivid sense of freshness it even has a bit of a tang to it. And it drinks so easily that this is a bottle you could finish before you even realize it. Food brings out some of its hidden depths which includes a tactile, minerally sensation of crushed white rocks.
