My last bottle drunk with spaghetti and meatballs. Good wine with high acidity to go well with tomato sauce based food. Tart cherry with earthiness.

This wine was PnP and drank with left over pot roast. Still plenty of fruit but the acid was a bit out of balance for my taste preferences. I have another bottle which I will drink in the near term.

Académie des Cinquante Tuscany Tasting (Buitenplaats Amerongen / Restaurant Bentinck, Amerongen, NL) : Lovely freshness and crispness from the Cabernet, earth and red meat, slightly rustic, rounded and full, blackcurrants, firm and well balanced, good length. Like right bank claret from a ripe vintage. Excellent.

James Suckling - Great Wines of Italy III - 2018 (The Presidio, SF) : Cab merlot Syrah. Honeyed "bottle sweetness" - of age. This is dead and unidentifiable. Medium bitterness but at the same time properly melted tannins. Medium acid. Elevated alcohol.

Dark berries, leather, tar, dry tannins, but seems ready and very nice now.

Deep Ruby colour With only a hint of Brown. Has lost all of its primary fruit, but shows an intriguing smell of tobacco, leather and barnyard. Medium to full bodied, not much fruit, but still just enough to carry it through. Dry, leathery aftertaste With only a hint of dark cherries. A botlle that had been forgotten in the cellar. Fascinating to taste rather simple wines that old.

Retailer tasting (@ N in L) : Beautiful bouquet with ripe fruits, minerals and good barnyard impressions. On the palate ripe dark and red forest fruits, sweet spices, some leather and vanilla. Good acidity and tannin. Beautiful wine. Early maturity now.

@Capezzana tasting, Wicked Wine, Stockholm Slightly better than the previous vintage. More earthy notes, more tannic. Will improve over the years.

Ouvert côte-à-côte avec le 2007. Brillante tenue de ce vin après 11 ans! Élégant, équilibré, finale savoureuse. A rehaussé à merveille le BBQ d'orignal mariné à l'orientale.

Drank at Greek Taverna. Loved it. It seems to be in its ideal drinking window. No soapy smell as it sometimes had in the past. Just great Bordeaux style Italian. Sorry it is my last one.

Drank at Cooperberg's. Soapy on the nose and pretty good but outshone by the 2001 Brunello we enjoyed that night.

Drank at 410 Bank Street. Excellent. My first 2001 and every bit as good as the 2000 that i loved. The Coleman's preferred this to the barolo we had.

Lots of graphite and a bit light on the fruit for my tastes.

Floral nose with blackberry and a touch of smoke. More lush blackberry and some licorice but framed but good acidity on the palate. Food wine but can stadn on its own. Lots of fresh acidity and a mid-long finish. 92-93. Give it another 3-5 years

Black red colour with a typical nose of figs, black cherry, some spices and oak. A sweet palate with finely intergrated tannins but a light on the mouth with a longish finish. I expected more from this wine in this vintage. A little pricey for what's in the bottle(45$cdn)
