Get together with some friends and decided to drink the 2021 Turnbull Fortuna cab next to the 2021 Patine Cellars Earnest’s Eye cab and 2019 Carter Haze cab to see how they compare since they are all sourced from the Fortuna Vineyard. Dark ruby fruit - currants, dark cherry, and some blackberry. Smooth mid-palate with solid depth/concentration. Nice rich flavors of cassis, baking spices, cocoa, and some oak. Decent finish but overly long nor deep. Decanted for on hour and …

Fabulous, approaching the beginning of its decline. Decanted because of a cork issue, giving it a little bottle air is sufficient.

OK, not sure about the 100 point rating from the experts a number of years ago (which incidentally, tripled the price of wines out of this producer), but boy is this good. Didn't decant due to 14 years of age - first few sips needed some air, but the wine quickly opened up within 15 minutes. Lovely bouquet of blackberry and cassis, just the right amount of oak on the mid mouth feel, and a delicate finish. Surprising (in a …

Red fruit dominant, massive amounts of cherry, strawberry, pomegranate, rhubarb, cassis, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, asphalt, licorice, great length and balance. Drinking very well now from this perfectly stored bottle, but has life ahead of it as well. Wish I had more, but this was my last.

Tasted double blind. While this wine had a strong presence right out of the gate, it needed more time in the glass to open up and show all its nuances. The complexity is the highlight here and as many other 2010s, this has the structure to age gracefully. In addition and contrary to other wines from many other vintages this millennium, this 2010 is not too ripe or too fat. Some points deducted as the wine is not yet fully …

Decanted ~3h which seemed about right. A magnificently fragranced nose with sexy perfume, floral notes and intense berry fruit of red current and black cherries with the perfect amount of extraction. Sweet spices of licorice, of which definitely not too few, and mineral notes of iodine round off the aroma landscape. After a while also adding dried tobacco. Fruity and juicy on the palate, with plenty of structural tannin. A solid length finish with a salty character to it. This …

It takes at least 90 minutes to begin to open up with a decant at a restaurant. It has a singular personality that was prune and dark fruit on the palate Clearly, well made with a 30 second finish. There was nothing compelling or held my interest as with most great wines. It somewhat improved over 2.5 hour dinner. It did not make me want to go back for more. Everyone thought it was merely very good, scoring somewhere in the …

Decanted 6 hours. Very balanced wine. Nose was fresh and showed beautiful fruit (mostly red fruit, with some dark fruit to support). I t was seamless in the mouth; definitely not a fruit bomb. It hit all the right notes. Tannins were beautifully soft, but with enough support to create luxury. Will save next bottle for 10 years to check development. Very nice bottle.

Needs decanting but once it is open it is very good.

Family get together at my parents. It's been a couple years since I've revisited this wine. Dark black and blue fruit with a touch of red - blackberry, blueberry, currants, and a little dark cherry. Really smooth mid-palate with solid depth and a nice purity. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep. Decanted for one hour and drank over another three. Not much improvement with time but at a nice drinking point. In all, a really nice wine but …

--- COLOR: Garnet with brickish-garnet rim (mature?) NOTE: This is lovely from nose to finish, so no wonder why Parker called it out as one of his favs from the 2014 releases. It is oak-driven, but on the nose it's more sweet mulberry, then the mouth is rich and decadent, with loads of darker fruits mingled in with lots of dark cocoa, then the finish just sails off for 45 minutes of lovely cocoa powder covered blackberries. Its great. I …

Initially a bit closed, so decanted for 5 hours before consuming. Perfect balance, on the elegant side but great complexity with a finish that lasts almost a minute. Blackberry, cassis, tea, salty blue stone, asian spice, cinnamon, cigar box and many more. Just keeps giving subtle flavors and it doesn't end. This is not a 100 pointer, but it's very good and could be higher with time. If the nose was more giving it would be a 98 pointer...

True to the Turnbull house style the nose is given to excessive jamminess and overly oaked; I have to admit I'm not partial to it. But in the mouth the wine is very polished, full and seamless, and quite inviting for a wine that's still on the green side. The tannins are very fine and the body is plush. Several-to-many years are mandatory to tone down some of the brassy top notes and level out the wood. Potential for a …

A great wine. Dark purple with a great smell. Very well balanced and well made. Lots of fruit, including blueberries, blackberries and cherry. Smooth feel and integrated tannins. Very hard to put down!
