A few months back I had the 2009 Renard Unti Vineyard Syrah while on vacation, it was fabulous. Wines from this producer seem relatively hard to find, but I found a batch of 2003 Renard Sta Rita Hills Syrah on winebid.com, bought 2 of them about a month ago, and opened one tonight. Unfortunately, this bottle was not good. Perhaps too old, perhaps was not stored properly or flawed in some other way. Will check the remaining bottle some time …

Took a while to come around. Nice zingy acid, peppery, plum-y. Good QPR.
