Cameron Hughes Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 609

This wine is rich and coming into a great drinking period. Compared to Lot 609 -2014 vintage of same wine- it just is a little short in depth and body. The 609 is more complete, this wine is still very nice. Dark fruits, not as much oak or cedar notes.

This wine is now in its element. Deep color with deep cassis aromas. Oak and cedar notes are present with a hint of floral notes- white flowers. Real depth here, this wine is ready to drink but has tannins to hold for a couple years. This is why I love Cameron’s top cabernets. This wine is clearly from an A list winery.

This wine is starting to come around. Deep fruit and oak come through along with floral notes. The depth and richness is starting to come through. Edit: After 3 days the cedar and oak meld together very well with the fruit. Nice and rich on the palate.

I think I jumped the gun on this one. It needs a long decant or more time in the bottle. Not your run of the mill cab, an interesting wine that keeps your attention. I will definitely wait another year to open the next one.

My wife loves this wine. Fun to have a reasonably priced wine she likes. She has chosen it in a blind tasting against Nickel & Nickel. Works well for me! LOL, I drank the Nickel & Nickel.

Accessed by a coravin. Nice but not as deep as 609 from same producer. Still very nice it is balanced medium bodied. A very herbaceous nose, not typical cabernet. Still young with some heat. Will develop, a fair value.
