A rambunctious, mountain fruit wine. Screams CA terroir - dirt, cherried menthol (but not cloying), good balance, and maximum pleasure. Great with a grilled ribeye. 2nd day note: even better than first day. Tons of ripe plum, some cedar, and resolving tannins. Happy to have one more bottle to enjoy in another 2+ years.

Notes are from day 2. Similar as last bottle - tons of rich, Napa mountain fruit, but with good acidity to keep it lively and food friendly. Big fan of HLR wines. Got turned on last WB day.

I didn't know what to expect from this wine. Picked up a single bottle as part of a HLR Beserkers Day special 3-pack of their 2013's. Dark and earthy, with cedar, licorice, and leather notes. This is a bold wine, very expressive of mountain fruit, but it has an underpinning of violets and fruit blossoms that give it a soft side. Look forward to trying HLR's 2013 Cab and Merlot too.
