Smoking Loon Merlot

Cherries, dust, short finish, alcohol burn mid palate. Not much to remember.

not bad, but nothing special. A little bland. Some forward fruit, but not much of a finish.

Nose of red fruits with dust and spice. Very clear garnet in color. Flavors of milk chocolate and cocoa powder, blackberries, blueberries, and spice. Chewy and yummy, but not too heavy or overpowering. Great every day wine for the price.

No formal note. Drank this with steak, grilled onions, and grilled shrimp. Very opaque in the glass. The nose gave off black cherry, plum, oak, and a hint of black pepper. The cherry and plum continued on the palate. The finish was short, and not memorable. Honestly, this is a solid Merlot for the price, and a great bottle to crack open on a week night. You're not getting any complexity at this price, but it tastes good.

Merlot-like flavor profile, with a bit of that woody tone. Some complexity on the finish, but somehow feels a bit 1-dimensional - although maybe that's not fair. For $8 this is excellent.

Leather and fruit on the nose. Medium-to full bodied spiced layers of blackberry, plum and black olives.
