Meridian Vineyards Merlot

Given to us from a poorly stored wine rack and full expected to throw it out.....WRONG. This bottle was simply a quite nice aged Merlot with smooth mixed dark fruits up front then layered with an aged smokey and oaky flavor in the middle. Nice smooth and smokey fruit and medium tannin on the end.

Vermelho escuro, semitransparente, levemente opaco, com superfície um pouco ofuscada e anel discreto. Aroma entre balsâmico e couro, com intensidade somente média. Corpo leve, com textura carnosa. Acidez de média para elevada, tanino presente e sabor amargo.Qualidade apenas boa. Sem complexidade, com equilíbrio e harmonia um pouco prejudicados. Retrogosto curto. Um merlot puro nada interessante.

I had the 2008 Merlot and it was very plummy and hint of tobacco taste and a hint of vanilla with very berry taste.

Basic ruby, clear and sound. Toasty oak, cocktail nuts, and a little over-ripe fruit on the nose. Somewhat hearty and rustic but the tannins are smooth. Medium body, balanced finish, and overall enjoyable. (4+10+14+7) = 85

Aroma: very tight, not much on opening, after 30 min a hint of leather, mostly, then chocolate, not much else. Taste: now, after 1 hour, seems to be opening up. Nice inexpensive Merlot. Now, after 1 day, the balance is there, still fruit forward with some earthy tones. Great value.

I had the 2004 a year ago, and things have not changed much. I got this as a 'complimentary gift' from our hotel. Nose is of raspberry, soy sauce, and vanilla. Tastes are of raspberry, caramel, vanilla. Easy to drink, but fakey sweet taste. I would'v
