In a weird place right now. Seems to have shut down a bit, not as upfront as previous, but hasnt developed complexity yet. Bubbles still fresh. Would hold a few years

Clean, crisp minerality. Slight lime zest note.

Ermes Pavese Private Dinner (New York, NY) : Disgorged February 2013 (my previous note was for the June 2013 disgorgement of the same vintage). This remains a very fine, chiseled wine, with notes of chalk, finely crushed rocks, and what I can only describe as hints of chlorine. The mountain air is palpable. 18 months on lees, non-dosage, non-grafted, indigenous yeast. Incredible stuff, really profound and clear expression of alpine fruit and herbs, it's like it could be from Haus Alpenz instead of Rosenthal. Really crunchy lemon quality to it, as well.

A short tasting note for this would be: it's like Pavese's Blanc de Morgex et de la Salle, but sparkling instead of still. Intensely mineral, with aromas of citrus, white flowers, and peanut skins. The palate comes alive with great acid, sea breeze, and a gentle creaminess that balances everything nicely. Clearly well made, and very enjoyable. Quite a nice accompaniment to red velvet chocolate chip cookies and black cherries. Rated 1 on a scale of -1 to 3.
