Woody, slightly spicy, black fruits - typical claret. Nothing to distinguish it though. It developed after a couple of hours and went well with steak. Not one to drink on its own though. This vintage needs drinking up now.

Crème de cassis with vanilla. This has that creamy texture so synonymous with super-modern Bordeaux, but it drinks surprisingly fresh. If you drink lots of New World and want to check out some Bordeaux, here is a great place to start. Drink now-2011. Food pairing: braised lamb and other braised meats
