Tatomer Grüner Veltliner Paragon Vineyard

Rich floral ripe melon with briochey-leesy depth (slight impression of washed rind cheese). m+body, m+alcohol, m+acid, m phenolic bitterness, m minerality mid-palate, m length Rich and savory on the palate, with more melon, a slightly honeyed quality, and a hint of green romanesco. Not bad for a new-world gruner! Flashy, rich, more reminiscent of Knoll (who Graham studied with) than Alzinger. It has the weight of a smaragd but not quite the aromatics and savory melon character.

Lots of minerality, wet stone, stone fruits

Clear and lite in the glass. Nose of pear, calcium, melon and sea mist. Lite body with juicy pear, calcium, citrus zest, green apple and stone fruit on the palate. Calcium and zest spike on the relatively short finish, producing an unpleasant tartness. Diluted above proper Grüner temps. Drinkable, but not as good as previous Tatomer.

seemed watered down. very disappointing, as was the other gruner from 13.

Lacked personality on the table next to a Verdicchio but it went awfully well with sushi, with clean flavors of green apples, brine, and lime blossom. Had sufficient closing snap, but didn't show much on the nose.
