The one where EP visits (Willow) : Always a thoroughly enjoyable experience having the Jacques Carillon BBM. Captivating bouquet presenting ripe apricots, peaches, mulled pears, plums and red apples, with cream and chalk emerging with time. "We like cheek" (Chicago, IL) : Ab absolutely magnificent bottle of white Burgundy, made in the style of the wines of old, in that there is not a single hint of reduction here. Rich, palate-filling, and outrageously dense and chock full of fruit and minerality. One of those wines where the last sip is best (about 3 hours in); there is so much material to unpack here. One of the favourites at the table tonight.

Superlative wine. Incredibly complex, elegant. There is real depth here but it dances. Young and should go a long time, definitely not showing everything it's capable of yet. Achingly hard to find, alas.

Came out of the gate firing on all cylinders. White peach and white flowers a plenty with some lavender and apricot (a hint of botrytis perhaps?). It is a dense wine, with latent power but not heavy. It shows some spiced pear and honey with air and is certainly ready to go now. Length of flavour is prodigious.

2010 Great White Burgundy Dinner (Eli's Table - New York, NY) : Served single blind. Brilliant wine, plain and simple. Floral with so much orchard fruit and savory spice in an incredibly Old School style. Dense, powerful and long with seemingly tannic structure. Great now, with upside. Probably even better in another decade.

Flight of 88, 91, 93, and 2010. 1988: Very good, but shy of the greatness sometimes experienced with this vintage. 1991: Very very good, and a vintage that always exceeds expectations. Initially it seemed to be everyone's WOTF. 1993: Lovely and fruit intensive. a fantastic wine in a fantastic place. For me both the 91 and 93 were simply gorgeous. 2010: Very good. Some called this a "future" wine. I really liked it in the present as well.

It has just a hint of toasty development. There’s the purest of white peach fruit. You also get honeysuckle and plenty of mineral. It is subtle, complex, voluminous and engaging. There’s gentle suggestion of the exotic and a high glycerol feel against the gums. It remains light on its feet and has fabulous length.

I took my own advice, and we drank the 2010 and the 2012 side by side. A beautiful pairing, both decanted a couple of hours. The 2012 is immediately accessible, and simply a joyous drink. Love it. The 2010 took some time to open, and then really drew us in. Very regal. Two fabulous vintages.

Big Bordeaux & Burgundy XIII (Kevin and Vicki's House) : The nose has lemon and green applie, acidity and minerality. The palate is slightly buttery with that high minerality and pear. Lively and great tension. The front palate has a lemon oil flavor and mouthfeel, then the finish reminds me of licking wet rocks.

Grand Burg & Bordeaux Tasting (Kevin's (Rocknroller) House) : Nose: Big time pears and apples w/ nutmeg and mineral hints. Fresh air aromas after additional glass time. Palate: Lemons w/ very present acids and lime hints. Pretty long finish and very precise. First Batard that I've had. 93+ points.

I had previously tasted this wine in tank at the property and was wowed. Yellow. Youthful with loads of honeysuckle fruit. Rich, lush, sweet on the palate. Great balance and length. If any criticism, I would say a bit more acidity would be preferred, but this is knit picking. This needs time imo, to reach it’s potential. Good now, but will be great with time. 94

A long Sunday lunch at Noble Rot (Wellington, NZ) : Decanted three hours earlier. The deeper golden colour, with green tints, Rauno noted. You could sit and sniff this all day. You probably couldn’t because you would actually get quite bored and not be very productive. It is so pure with citrus and blossom notes. It is unctuous and powerful but not heavy. A wine of tremendous finesse, ethereal beauty and phenomenal balance and length.

The 2010 Jacques Carillon Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet is quite simple the best young white wine I’ve had this year. It is open for business when first poured with some restrained exoticism, there’s a whiff of rockmelon, paw paw, vanilla pod and feijoa.
