Although by now this unforgettable wine tasting was already three years ago, I still clearly remember that this wine, then eighteen(!) years old, was just outstanding. Chapeau!

I stumbled on this wine back in the days when wine commune was the auction arm of JJ Buckley. This is my last of three of these and and like the two bottles that went before, it is simply delicious. Pop and pour. Blackish red in color the wine wine shows balance and amazing complexity. Flavors include black olive, dark earthy fruits, tar, blood, tobacco, cigar box. If you have any of these I would be drinking.

Maurizio Felluga Visits Madrid (Enoteca Barolo - Madrid) : Now we're talking. Aromas of humid black olives and on the palate must to age a little. Ahora estamos hablando. Aromas a aceitunas negras con humedad y en boca debe madurar un poquito.

Decanted for 1,5 hour. Gorgeous on the nose...leather, tobacco, truffles...very mature with tertiary aromas and colour already tending to orange/brick. On the palate, this is full bodied, good acidity, balanced with tannins that are still a bit too astringent. Interesting bitter aftertaste. Really good! Drink it immediately.

Consumed in a restaurant in Sienna at Il Campo (can't remeber the name....) The wine needed 30-45 minutes to open up in the glass. Deep ruby color, with some hints of bricking at the rim. Expressive aromas of ripe black fruit, tobacco and sage. Full bodied and ripe with nicely integrated tannins, ripe fruit and balanced acidity. The finish is very long and keeps on lingering. I don't have experience with this wine, but it seems to be very much …

A combination of the regional grape Refosco (dark skinned, solid body with prominent acidity) and Merlot. Expressive nose of violets and dark fruit. The wine is fresh and complex. Seems to work well with Merlot indeed. Very good with food due to its freshness and good balance. First time I had this wine, a positive surprize. Beautiful label too. BTW, this wine won several awards I found out after I looked it up on the producer website.

Inky red colour. Nose of blackberry, and smoked spice, a little gamey too. The palate has dark berries, more smoke and spice. A perfect amount of tannin still around to give this a medium to full bodied structure. Lovely drinking.

Holy smokes, I need to pay more attention to Italian wines. Bought some of these at auction a few years ago and opened the first one today. The wine is absolutely delicious. color is a very dark black red. It is a blend of Merlot and Refosco, a grape I have no experience with. But I am hear to tell you the combination is killer. The nose is dark fruit and smoke while the complex flavor profile is dark fruits, …
