Lots of fruit - medium + tannins and acidity - very well balanced - happy to start with 91.

Random drinking night out (Athanasiadis house) : The wine shows very pale colour In the nose, the wine shows density, cranberry, red cherry notes, some floral notes (violet), clear profile, sweet spices. In the palate, the wine shows red fruit profile, red cherry, the oak is pronounced, the tannins are loads and grippy, the wine is warm (14.50%), med body, dusty, there is an underripeness here, some sour cherry notes, med to full body, long finish Not my style

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, red currant and wet tobacco with leather. The body is medium/full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes medium. 4h in caraf to open up Give it 10-20 years in your cellar

2018 Castello Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino ($55 in 2013). Light-mid ruby, rim variation, viscous (14.5 alc.); red fruit, earth, mushroom, cedar, light floral nose; mid acids; mid tannins; semi-tight, semi-long tart red fruit finish; needs some time. w/veal dishes.16.5/91.

$50 at Costco, to pair with Wagyu ribeye pan seared blue. 2018 should be skipped for the price. It was quality juice, but not at all as good as 2017 or 2016. For the price I shoulda got 2019 Barbaresco. Redeeming factors here were the bouquet, which sported roses, tight knit cooperage, some spices, and soft texture, but lacked that energy on the mid and finish, which caused this less than loving review. The cherry is delish with the expensive …

A well-crafted wine, yet lacking a memorable or distinctive impact.

Agree that this is less austere than the 17 (pretty much the case with all 18 Italian reds). Ripe dark fruit, wet earth and herbs. Tannic and acidic so needs time.

Tasted as part of the Brunello tasting at Roberto's Ristorante More volume and less austere than the 2017 vintage. Mouthfilling, with some sensation of dark chocolate. Again: wine was served too warm.

Firm wine with some tannin right now; real structure here. Good future, #BenvenutoBrunello
