Super locked down at first, rough tannins. Opened up in 1-2 hours, much more approachable. Definitely rustic and forest floor, fresh and roasted red fruits. Had that dirty mazis thing going on. Definitely a good pairing with the Cantonese meat dishes. Evened out the next day but still needs more time.

A lovely combination of raspberry, blackberry, and a touch of mint, with savory earthy notes, plenty of well-integrated acidity and fine tannin, while drinking well now it is still quite youthful.

Wine dinner with friends; this was quite nice; classic Gevrey nose with darker fruits and hints of sauvage along with some dark violet and earthy underbrush. Good fruit and power on the palate with a long saline tinged finish. Very nice. Plenty of time ahead.

A pretty nose of sweet earth, rose petal and red fruits. Silky in the mouth. Mid-weight, nicely proportioned and balanced. Some Gevrey sauvage. A fine finish that calmly expands and lingers.

So I read the TN below, and for my taste I agree with parts of it….first off there is a clear delineation between Rousseau’s top 3 wines and the many GCs that slot in below the CSJ. And secondarily there is virtually no burgundy where you’re getting value for what you’re paying any longer, and this is no different. That said I don’t view this wine as egregiously average (to each his own). For me this is an excellent vintage …

I do not want to offend any Rousseau fans but this Mazy-Chambertin is nothing but super average. And given the vintage is has no excuse but to be great. I paid 90 bucks for this bottle back than, which now apparently goes for 1300 plus. That is, in one word, "obscene". This wine is so average, it is flat out boring, standard pinot noir. It would be completely outshone by a wine like Bachelet Les Evocelles 2013 at one tenth …

Very open 2010 with flowery, elegant nose. Seductive almost like a Chambolle.

(2010-tasting: Volnay x 3, Vosne x 3, Gevrey x 3) Medium-fullish nose. Tart red cherry and cranberry. Some iron minerality and Gevrey-blood. Herbs and some flowers. Raspberry. Very pure, but a bit tender for the pedigree... Medium-fullish palate. Red and dark fruit in combination. High acidity, almost tart. Lacks a bit power and concentration. But harmonious in mouth. Also lacks oak spice and power. Agree with other tasters - impossible to understand the hype with Rousseau's "secondary" wines. I think …

Slightly flawed bottle. Detected a slight bitter fruit flavor. My last bottle.

Raveneau Grand Cru with Maxime Raveneau (110 Taillevent London) : Dense and concentrated, packed and stacked after an open nit and giving Rousseau Charmes 12. This Mazy is a wine that deserves another decade at least to soften but the raw materials are amazing and it should emerge a wonderful wine with true Gevrey earth and game.

Reached full potential with 1.5 hrs in the glass. Medium bodied, paired well with Risotto & white truffle. This is at peak drinking. Now-2023.

Drinking well, with great purity and energy, there’s a delicious mix of dark/red cherries, minerals, roses. Good length, with a nice sweetness to complement the acidity. Having drunk a few Roumier the past 2 weeks it’s a very interesting comparison how Rousseau is able to provide all the intellectual satisfaction with far more pleasurable drinking. This is very good now with room to grow

Drinking very nicely at the moment. An elegant and well balanced wine with earthy yet lively nose. Mushrooms, wet stone, savory herbs and bright cherry on the palate. Absolutely lovely and more restrained than I would have expected.

The 6 years since my last bottle has filled in the wine and added character. Will drink well for 3-4 more years.

The nose was more velvety fruit than fine spice. The palate shows beautiful poise and perfect weight. The flavour profile is more dark fruit and earth than the more spiced or perfumed expressions of the cotes de nuits. It's definitely grand cru level but given the style it lacks a little body and power to be anything more than a low to mid-level expression of a GC. Immensely pleasurable though. My guess is this should be drunk now and risks …

Very pretty bottle, drinking very well despite its youthfulness. Nice nose with red fruits, flowers. Hits its stride on a full and fascinating palate with spice, cherry, herb, flowers. Lovely transparency. Great balance, tannins resolving but slightly drying on the finish. Very pleasant tonight, should improve.

Sunday Group: Mini-Horizontals- Mondavi, Dominus & Chappellet (Mike's) : Gorgeous floral overtones with cherry and stone notes underneath. Medium-bodied and silky, with flavors of cherry, mineral, spice and rose water. Well-balanced. Lengthy finish.

Translucent purple except at the center. Nose was clear but less than fully expressive. Gave notes of violet and fresh flowers, dark fruit with Chinese spice and nutmeg. The same follows on the palate with an emphasis on kirsch liquor. Plenty of acidic verve and clean tannins. Medium finish. A friendly wine and pleasant entry into grand cru Burgundy for me

really like this. Bouquet is a bit restrained but a lush entry is complemented with crisp acidity and a rounded finish. No intrusive tannin. There's a sweet inner core of fruit which suggests to me it will improve...and it's good already

Miscellaneous French Tasting (The Wine Club, San Francisco) : Ruby center, faded edge. Funky, gamy black fruit. Light with little authority on the palate. Not Grand Cru level, even taking into account its Gevrey origins.

The whole package. Just as intoxicating on the nose and mid palate as the Les Champeaux, with a more complete mouth feel, longer finish, more acidity. Outstanding

Served it blind, and people did absolutely not guess a young Grand Cru from a great year. This does not have the stuffing you would expect. I know that Rousseau is supposed to be more about elegance, and that his Mazis is not up there with Le Chambertin and Clos de Bezes, but really! This one would be blown away by a village wine by Comte Liger-Belair or Emmanuel Rouget at 1/3 the price!

With prix-fixe menu at Belaton. No notes but remember not being blown away although pretty exhausted at this point in the trip! 90-91.
