From 1.5L. Heavy aromas of leather, soil, fall leaves, and dusty black cherry. Looking back at my previous tasting notes, I probably misjudged for how long this wine will remain at its peak. Compared with those earlier experiences, this bottle felt a touch advanced. It may be the additional 2+ years of age; it may also be that this particular bottle wasn't stored quite as well. It's hard to go wrong with 22-year-old Brunello and finely-cooked beef, but I did …

This is Brunello at is apogee. Everything one could ask for in a mature Brunello: black and red cherries, tobacco leaves, lavender, damp soil, the slightest hints of vanilla. The expansive palate is a perfect balance of fruit and acid, with the perfect touch of Sangiovese sweetness; a suggestion of mint on the finish is the perfect coda. This is the gift that keeps on giving: every bottle has been better than the last, leaving behind a growing group of …

From 1.5L. Exceptional like the last bottle, although coming from magnum as this did it took a while longer for the wine to reach its crescendo. The wine is definitely mature, but dark red and black fruit remains on the mouthwatering palate. There's enough structure to keep everything in harmony, with the remaining acid giving the finish a pleasing bite. My last note suggested drinking "over the next few years;" in magnum this probably has another 10 to go. Rated …

Flatiron Wine & Spirits Dinner (In Vino, New York, NY) : Double-decanted three hours prior to serving. Simply outstanding in every way. The bouquet: unmistakable Sangiovese with an elegance rarely seen in Brunello. The palate: expansive and rich, touching every part of the mouth, yet with a lightness and acidity that comes together perfectly. And could it be any better than now, paired with a pappardelle bolognese? Even the Burgundy freaks tipped their caps. Drink now and over the next …

Popped and poured without decanting. There was a little sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Medium bodied, cherry color. Wine had beautiful fruit flavors. Tannins completely resolved. Wonderful wine that everyone loved.

Didn't decant, just opened bottle about an hour befor dinner. Mature and delicate, with a brownish edge and tawny color. Some tannin initially, but this dissipated within a couple of hours. Vanilla, dusty leather, little fruit. A nice match with Mom's spaghetti roast while we watched the Academy Awards.
