Dark, blackish red w slightly paling edge. Bq w dark cherries, oak, cinnamon, leather. Prominent acidity, rounded tannins, fruit still forward. Medium aftertaste w alcohol and fruit. Wine will easily last five more years. A nice Chianti Classico, but not much more.

Another WineBid pickup! At the time I Was looking for a Chianti with some age on it, ideally a Gran Selezione with a little more barrel aging on it. Knowing Ruffino to be a quality Chianti producer, this bottle matched everything I was looking for! Picked up for $25, stored at 55 degrees at home. Popped and poured - paired with homemade pizzas! Drank over two hours. Visually, a medium red with a garnet, almost tawny edge already. On the …

Decanted and drank over an hour. Paired well with Thai food. This is a pretty enjoyable and easy to drink Chianti, notes of red cherry and raspberries. Tannins were pretty mellow, from bottle age likely. My only qualm is it lacks the complexity and longer finish that I'd expect from a Gran Selezione. I've had better Chianti for cheaper (this bottle was $50 at a local wine shop). Not sure I'd get this again, given the price, but I still …

Reticent at first, then some aroma of cherry, sandalwood, earth. Similar on the palate along with medium grainy tannin and medium acidity. Overall, still young and will get better, likely will bear more fruit and earth in the next year or two.

Shockingly this is still in very good shape. Fading for sure, but still tasty. Great leathery nose with some fruit left. Fully integrated tannins, with medium light finish. Came from a friend's cellar at 55 degrees since release. If it hasn’t been stored properly, it will probably be undrinkable. A pleasant surprise.

Gran Selezione with some age on it, medium garnet. Aromas of raspberry, dried herbs, sandalwood, tobacco, smoke, and sweet Balsamic. High acidity with soft tannins that started medium but softened after 90 minutes. The palate was the same as the nose with a hint of perfume. Short finish but enjoyable.

This is a subtle, austere Chianti that has good aromatics. It is a style I love and consume with Italian food. If you are looking for fruit and extraction, this wine is not for you.

Crowd pleasing color complex Chianti. Blend of Sangiovese (85%), Merlot (10%) and Colorino (5%). Aromas of dark berries, dried earth, black olives, leather and rosemary. Dried black cherry envelopes the pallet along with hints of dried cranberries, black licorice and tobacco. Soft tannins and well balanced/fresh acidity. Aging nicely.

Opening this bottle at this time was a mistake, but our guests requested it. It was served as a PnP - another mistake. This wine needs both bottle age and AIR to show its best. All we got was some red fruited cherry, some earth, and an overabundance of acidity. Too early to rate. Hold this wine in your cellar for another couple of years, then give it a good decant to maximize enjoyment.

Wine was an excellent choice for our lasagna dinner. The full fruitiness ended with a spicy medium finish. We decanted for 15 minutes before the 1st pour but the wine continued to evolve throughout the evening. The subtle spice went well with our meal. Excellent!

A blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot & 5% Colorino. Aged in a combination of oak, stainless steel and concrete for 1095 days. PnP then decided to decant for 30m. Stewed tomatoes, plum, espresso, black pepper, earthy tobacco, dry oak, sour cherries, a touch of bakers chocolate.

This was quite good and exceeded my expectations. PnP. Medium to dark garnet. Earthy, savory and a little bit funky on the nose. Elsewhere, black cherries, cured meats, oak. Nice spicy entry, good grip. It's juicy, with notes of leather, fruit skins.

Noticed this wine on sale at my local store and checked reviews online. Most were positive so bought 3 bottles on a whim. Decanted over 6 hours Color: Crimson red showing some age Nose: cherry preserves, fire embers, smoke, dark plum Palate: red cherries, some chewiness, raspberry Finish: Medium long Not bad, but wondering if the bottle was slightly flawed. My cork was extremely brittle so it’s possible it dried out and might have impacted the taste. Will update once …

I haven't had this wine for over a decade; and I am not disappointed. A viscous (@14.5% abv) delicious black fruit and cherry driven chianti classico with medium acidity and medium(+) tannin, and medium(+) body. Suave mouthfeel, balanced and slightly concentrated, without being overpowering. Great length with delicious bitter-sweet balanced finish featuring elegant tannins. A winner. Only feature to fault is that abit a residual alcohol heat emerges which may be mitigated by decanting.

Opened an hour and half before serving, drank over next 2hr. Aromas of soil, ripe fruit, and leather, full but nothing vibrant. Smooth, very little tannin, some acidity remaining. Rich fruit flavour is showing the heat of the vintage. This seemed ready, maybe a bit over the hill, but not by much. Certainly not too old

It seems this is past peak and starting the downhill slide, although it was still really good. The tart dark cherry I've always associated with this wine was present, but the tobacco and leather have taken center stage. There's still ample acidity and nice spice. Drink up if you have anymore! This was our last bottle, and I'd say we timed the consumption perfectly, with no desire to backfill this vintage as we have several more recent years in the …

Bill's. A better wine than the bottle we had in 2016 but only because it wasn't "brain-dead". Ripe, sweet top notes but nothing underneath and almost unforgivingly underwelming considering the cellar it came from.

Winewankers BYO; 7/1/2017-7/2/2017 (Tores House) : Dark red, no signs of aging. Nose with cherries, spice and licorice. The palate has much of the same and is also rich in tannins and alcohol. The wine has already been kept for quite a few years, but will last for a very long time still.

Nice Cherry and herb notes on the nose. Well balanced wine and still showing good structure 12 years later. May have had a few more years left but went wonderfully with the Homemade Ravioli dinner with Bolognese sauce. Biggest thing was not as long of a finish as I had remembered but still a nice wine and even was "OK" finishing after dinner without food which isn't often the case with sangiovese based wines from Italy.
