Peter Lauer, Ayler Riesling Fass 1, Mosel

Another luminous bottle of this food-friendly beauty.

My first Fass 1 ever, after following the producer for five years. On the first night, it was not very typical for Lauer, with a pretty intense dark smell, darker color, bitter mid-palate (floral and very minderal). The next few days, pineapple came around and the wine got leaner, fresher, zingier. Good one and nice to know that there's more variety in the Lauer portfolio.

Lively and energetic riesling in a feinherb style though with 12.5 % alcohol. Really delicious, full of minerals, floral fruit, slight sweetness and refreshing acidity. Great purity of fruit, ending on a mineral note. Excellent with three more or less new Nordic dishes (take away from restaurant Radio), except for the capers component to one of them.
