Suvla Öküzgözü Boğazkere

Deep ruby with purple highlights. Very youthful showing a mulberry character. Rather single dimensional though without much complexity. Very accessable and easy-drinking.

Although it reflects the variety's typical red fruit characters such as pomegranate, raspberry, and cornelian cherry, some slight unpleasent aromas do show up behind them and affects its freshness in a negative way. ( I suspect, it may be VA) A further negativity of the wine is the dryness felt at finish even though its opening is fresh and delicious. Still, a promising wine in view of its style.

Tasted as part of the 2015 Şarap Tutkunları Tasting in İzmir where I was invited as a guest along with Aslı Odman. The tasting panel included Dilek Caner MW, İsa Bal MS and Ayhan Güleyen. The following tasting note and the relevant score belongs to me only. Ruby turning purple at rim. Reserved nose showing bramble character with purity of fruit. Plum and blackberry flavours on the palate that is flowing all across. Very well tamed tannins.
