Dark purple, opaque Dark, rich boysenberry nose Full bodied, rich boysenberry fruit, very fruit forward but still balanced. Opened up with time to become more complex and complete. A very big Beaujolais

The nose is high tone acid, red berries, smoke and soil. The palate is inky, dense, earthy, violets, stewed fruit. Serious, not a typical easy drinking Beaujolais.

A bit heavy on the bret…and some wood overlying plum and dark cherry nose. Better on the palate, same fruit medium bodied with some spice. Not a bad wine but not for me.

A year after my last bottle, this has shed its smokey reduction entirely. The nose now is pure violet, blueberry compote, and wet slate. Acid and structure still holding up well, tertiary aspects just over the horizon. Outstanding.

Agree with others. This is an intensely concentrated and complex gamay but remains light and balanced. Slight aging has given it some fun characteristics. Wish I had more.

Ethereal, nine months since my last bottle, this somehow keeps getting better. The smoke is becoming intertwined with the floral aspects, dropping some weight from both the nose and palate. Supermodel sexy.

A year after my last bottle of this, it remains a favorite Gamay. Violet, blueberry, cured meat funk, and a mineral backbone. The darker and more brooding counterpart to Dubois’ ethereal Les Labourons, the pair reflect a duality similar to Foillard’s Côte Du Py / Corcelette combo. Effin outstanding.

It's delicious. Fragrant, lovely bright red fruit, crisp acidity - in perfect balance. A delight. And, even better than the last bottle, if that's possible. Rated +1, possibly +2 for the sheer enjoyment, on a scale of -1 to +2.

A gift from an enthusiastic friend. I think I understand his enthusiasm, even if I don't fully share it. This is a natural-yeast Beaujolais with some organic-wine funkiness, followed by some high-acid exuberance. If you can tolerate the funk, then it's a lot of fun to drink, and it may become even more fun if another couple of years in the cellar helps to mellow the acidity.

Clearly a little bit of over-reaction here to this wine. The aromatics are quite muted at this point but the texture is quite nice. I hope that the aromatics will develop a little more breadth and depth with time.

It’s kind of like you and a girl are making eye contact and smiling and then some big fucker comes out of nowhere and smacks you in the face Placenta of Beaujolais. Fat and sustaining in a hearty way. But it’s also incredibly light like a palate cleanser, it washed all the way though Gorgeous juicy red fruits. Give me this perfume I want to smell like this!!!! 93 (Edit: I was drinking the Les labourons lol)

Smells of red berry fruits - overripe strawberry, raspberries - fresh and a little funky. Earthier with air with a hint of pepper spice. Red fruited adding notes of bark, cinnamon and sarsaparilla, with more of that subtle peppery spice. Medium acidity and body. Superb food wine. Having a bit of a Beaujolais renaissance, I’m picking up more. Really nice.

Fruit that is very fresh, clean, lifted, and focused, with a bit of a nice licorice edge. But this is quickly shoved into the background by all kinds of mineral and earth notes, which dominate the finish. Overall, very nice wine that seems a bit more structured than you usually expect from fleurie. A few years in the cellar wouldn’t hurt, I suspect, after which it should be lovely.

Lilting red and blue berries precede damp earth and white pepper on the nose. Has light body with medium acidity, and very faint, soft tannins arrive on the finish. Perfectly tart red berry compote leads the palate, landing atop well defined layers of of white mineral, damp forest, and violet flower notes. This ticks all the boxes for me.

Fleurie on point! Bright, fresh red fruit, with that fascinating strawberry inflected note that heralds Fleurie, and a tart finish that invites another sip. Note: this is not a "simple" wine; there are layers of flavor which reward taste buds. Absolutely charming, friendly, and delicious. Rated +1 on a scale of -1 to +3.

Unexpectedly delicious. Perfumed nose with earth and gaminess - very old world smelling. Nice dark cherry fruit. Might be confused with red burgundy. Minerally, with a long finish.

Light-bodied, with tart cranberry fruit on the palate. Woodsy red fruit on the nose - this is pretty good for a Saturday afternoon.

This bottle was very funky with cheese and barnyard flavors after opening. I declared to see if these flavors disappear and indeed after about 2 hours the dark berries, cherries, and some meaty notes came through and the funk was pretty much gone. Tart berries and cherries on the palate with medium-high acidity and a hint of pink apple notes. Good finish.

Light translucent ruby in the glass; tart cranberry fruit on the nose. Seamless on the palate, with adequate acidity - more a mixture of tart red and black fruits here. Not bad, but also nothing here that really rings the bell either.

Translucent purple/ruby in the glass; bright red & black fruits on the nose. Seamless on the palate, but somewhat dilute in the mid-palate. Seemingly well-made, but lacking a little something. Not bad, though.

One of the most burgundian expressions of Gamay that I have come - a lean, cold climate expression of minerality. Cherry, violet and forest floor. Flawless winemaking and good quality but a tiny bit lacking in the enjoyment department for me. Will look out for more from producer though.

Enjoyed very much. Cloudy purple color (the wine is unfined and unfiltered). On the nose and palate, cassis, red cherries and a savory, umami character that is most attractive. Also some lovely violets/florals that add complexity. Low tannins and light bodied but quite full flavored. Less aggressively vivacious than many 2014s but all the more immediately approachable. A wine to drink now rather than one to keep. Wish I had bought more for the upcoming summer months.

Some of the crowd liked this Beaujolais better than the Brouilly that we paired with our Thanksgiving dinner. I preferred the Brouilly as the more versatile wine with a better acid/fruit balance. The Fleurie was a bit more on the dry side, and tended to get a little lost in all the wildly different flavors of cranberries, gravy, stuffing, and turkey.

E&R's 7th Annual Beaujolais Weekend; 11/19/2016-11/20/2016 (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR) : Creamy aromas with a bitter wood bark. Strange funkiness of bitter barrel notes. Soft palate entry. Mild and funky fruit, with some odd barel funk here too. Bitter fruit, too. Bitter, puckering green notes (herbs) on the finish.

Light, floral, a little thin. Crunchy cranberry, a little cherry. It drinks well and easily but there's not a lot of there there. Maybe it needs more cellar time. All in all, quaffable and quenching but not as complex as some other Fleuries I've had (Dutraive, Lucien Lardy, et al.).

ALTRA BORGOGNA; 1/16/2016-6/6/2016 : 12 mesi pièce 0% nuove Vinosità accesa, note cosmetiche e l' amaro dei raspi. Molto fresco e su toni di fiori amari già al naso. La bocca è tesa, fresca, primaria e per nulla arrendevole né diluita. Agrumi amari ed eleganza da leggera salatura, che sconfina nel marino. Per ora è troppo acido e poco equilibrato. Da attendere qualche anno.
