Famille Peillot Mondeuse Vin du Bugey-Montagnieu

Beautiful aromas of violets and berries. Mild but firm and complex palate of chalky minerals mixed with strawberries and herbs. Lingering cassis finish, with a chalky component similar to some Loire reds. A lovely, well structured, jewel box of a wine.

Lots of sediment in the bottle. Deep color, almost purple. Dark cherry. Faded quite a bit after two days in the fridge.

Didn't get to taste, as we opened this for guests, but they all seemed pleased.

On a whim, I picked this up to try something different and without a lot of downside ($15). Allegedly made by one of the leading quality producers in the area, according to wineanorak.com, I hoped to find a pleasant everyday wine. Missed it at the Louis/Dressner wine assault in April, so I was glad to finally get some face time with this. Very pretty and fresh. I could drink a lot of this wine.

Deep color and a beautiful nose of fruit and earth and herbs. Silky palate with good acidity, a fine minerality, and just a bit of a charming candied quality. Delicious. I'm falling in love with my everyday wines a lot lately.
