Textbook Barolo. Light, good length (particularly for the price), was good from PnP. Tannins were very manageable

A good showing but you have to love tannin, as the fruit was showing but accompanied by a strong tannic rasp. Will improve in time but enjoyable last night.

This is not showing well at all. I didn’t detect any TCA, but there was no fruit to speak of on the nose, no rose petals, almost nothing. The palate wasn’t quite as stripped, but still unpleasant. I’m guessing this is either insanely shut down or a bad bottle…

4th Saturday Brown Bagger & Anniversary Celebration (R&D’s) : Double blind. Light color. Abundant red berry fruit on the nose and palate. Rose and peppery spice elements as well. Full-bodied, with medium tannin and a lingering finish. Well-balanced. (R&S)

This was pretty closed down even over the course of a few hours in the decanter. Probably best to give these a couple of years but if drinking now, I'd suggest a long decant. Still very pleasant, just not giving as much as it has in the past.

Decanted an hour! This is tasty. Sour black cherry, tar, herbaceous, black truffle, tobacco, salty black licorice, dark chocolate. Only have one bottle left... Hope I have the will & patience to hold onto it for another year or two.

Still drinking very well at this point, if still firmly tannic, there is enough fruit for balance. Need to slow down on the remaining bottles as this should age quite well.

Tasty dark cherry, tar, and herbal notes on the nose and palate with youthful tannins on the moderate finish. An enjoyable early drinking Barolo.

Decanted an hourish. Cherry, black licorice, sage, hint of minerality, cedar, anise, herbaceous, dried strawberry, pomegranate. Paired nicely with lamb.

It seems to be finally entering its early drinking window. At this point a more feminine and straightforward nebbiolo. Awesome vintage, and decent price compared to other Barolos.

(Not decanted, only opened three hours before) Brick red colour with with a maturing nose showing leather, hip roses and sweet red berries in a very pleasant way. Nice on the palate with smoothing tannins and lots of cherry sweetness on the intense finish. (Best 2019-2034)

Decanted at noon for a 6:30 dinner. Took it out of the cold cellar 10 minutes before the meal. Wine was very blah. No nose. Little on the palate. The wine only started to open after it warmed up a little.

PNP. Supple entry with ripe, crunchy cherry, orange peel, cinchona, and asphalt. Terrific spine with orange peel and ripe tannins on the finish. Quite nice with a meal (92-94).

2nd place in recent Barolo Tasting. Couldn't really match the 2015 Silvio Grasso, but was more slightly popular than the 2015 Massolino that cost $160.

Definitely closed at this stage. I should have trusted my earlier note but thought I'd roll the dice and try a long decant. It was decent enough but well behind bottles consumed last year. Let these sleep for now, in my opinion.

Smoke, rose, tart red fruit on the nose. Cranberry, red cherry, maybe some leather on the palate. High tannin, high acid, probably should have decanteld it first because it’s very tight. Medium-short finish.

Drank with friends, big bouquet of alcohol and cherries, quite tannic with flavorful entry and long finish but a bit hollow, ok fruit, decanted, tannins smoothed a bit after about 4 hours, drank with another 2009 Barolo from Guido Porro. Drank with scallops with brussel sprouts and bacon, maybe not the best pairing and roasted veal chops, the perfect pairing, The wine definitely woke up with the veal. we agreed that this was not a great wine. nor much complexity, …

Good at first, but after 2-3 hours in the decanter it opened up pretty nicely, showcasing smoky aromas of leather, anise, asphalt/tar, cocoa, and jam, plus a nutty presence with time (i.e., almond). Similar flavors in the mouth delivered in a concentrated, medium-bodied package and followed by a long and expressive finish that leaves a lingering note of anise. Good now and likely for years to come!

Third bottle of this and it is definitely tightening up with each bottle. First was wide open. Second took a bit more time. This bottle was very tannic upon opening. There is plenty of fruit as well, but the acid and tannin structure are starting to dominate. Over 3-4 hours in the decanter this softens and opens up a bit, but the tannins remain more present than with prior bottles. I suspect this is closing down now and should be …

Clear, pale ruby. Legs. A light/medium intensity nose of cherry, cranberry, a little plum, vanilla, sweet spices, and faint floral and savoury notes. High acidity, medium body, medium+ flavour intensity with red fruits, spice and tar. Rather strong drying tannins. Not much depth at this point. Half a decade more in the cellar would probably help, or try giving it lots of air time.

Azelia's entry level Barolo. Definitely made in a more ready to drink young style. This was very approachable, with a touch of sweetness from the still lively fruit. The tannins were very light. Popped and poured at a restaurant. The color had not yet started to fade. Enjoyed by all at our table. My last bottle.

Medium nose of leathery cranberry, dried black cherry, drying / dying flower petals, some spicy but sweet cinnamon, and rusty and iron rich soily notes. Faint hints of pencil shavings. Dried jerky meats. Palate is in a good place for drinking right now, tannins have mostly melted away nicely. Rich and leathery red cherry fruit with more meaty notes. Still juicy. The finish is starting to turn a bit tertiary with the mature fruit yielding to fall leaves and maple. …

Youthful with intense fruit, some tannins and a juicy feeling. Dark berries, lots of oak, coffee, tar and stony minerals. Rather elegant and ready to drink already but also structured enough for keeping. The heavy oak may benefit from further cellaring.

Relativ dunkles Rubin. Moderner Barolo in Fruchtphase hat was!
