While not a "WOW" bottle, very solid and enjoyable. Good fruit, nice balance and a medium finish. Served with grilled loin lamb chops. Probably at peak.

Première bouteille d’une caisse achetée en Primeurs. Un jus plaisant, tannins polis, palais suave, un vin très agréable pour 20€ à l’achat.

This wine is still drinking very well. Not so much primary fruit now on nose/palate. Lots of earth, cedar, dried fruits with a little residual blackcurrant. I believe that this will carry on drinking well for another 4/5 years.

The mulled wine kind of of spiciness is apparent and heartwarmingly lovely, earthy sweet cloves, star anise, cinnamon , with a taint of musky wood. Round and fresh dark fruits even at 12 years old. Deliver more than expected. Lovely….

Surprisingly accessible. Ready for drinking. Dark red fruit, smooth tannins, balanced acidity. I enjoyed this bottle.

Dark fruit and floral nose, tannins are softened just right for Medoc. It has lasting power for the cellar, though lovely for drinking now.

Goulee 2010 Decanted with small decanter for 60mins Color of deep garnet, ruby and good clarity. Complex nose with profound riped fruits, mainly black, berries & cherries, blueberries, oak with slight leathery, cigar, star anise, cloves, herbaceous. However, entry is smooth and savoury with muscular and rich characters that emerges layers after layers. Firm tannins with fresh acidity upholding her bold structure. Mid palate is full body, lengthy finish that lasted 55 secs and beyond. This 12 years old wine …

Deep garnet. Very pronounced, intense, black cherry, damson, spice, liquorice, toast, cedar, nose. Similar palate. High acid & tannin. Full bodied, well balanced, long finish. Drinking well and should continue to do so for 5-10 years. Outstanding wine.

An inky, dense garnet wine with moderately intense aromas of baked blackberry and black cherry, raisins, damp earth, cedar closet. Aromas confirmed by the palate. There is moderate to low acidity and fine, soft tannins. A lovely, sweet fruitiness on the mid palate contrasts nicely with the earthy elements. The finish is long and evolves to reveal some herbaceous / stemmy flavors and cigar ash. Nice quality for the price.

Can't add much to Forceberry's note, who describes the wine perfectly. Thank you for this! Only I'm not sure if this wine will reach it's top in another decade. Feels perfectly in balance for now: fresh fruit, integrated tannins and fine complexity. Drink now and for the next 5 to 7 years I'd say.

The third wine by Cos d'Estournel. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (80%) and Merlot (20%). 14% alcohol. Very slightly translucent dark cherry color. Brooding and quite powerful yet very attractive nose with aromas of ripe dark fruits, black cherries, some blackcurrant marmalade, a little bit of sweet oak spice, a hint of tobacco and a touch of roasted meat. Chracterful and enticing nose. The wine feels dry, quite tough and pretty sinewy on the palate with full body and ripe, …

Great third wine from Cos. The 2010 vintage is drinking really nicely now but will go longer. Lovely fruit character which has mellowed, nice wood, balanced acidity and tannin.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and fig. It tastes like blackberry, blueberry, prune, cinnamon and fig. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.

Jamet, Sineann, Rhys, L Latour +++ (Wesley's) : I believe this is the 3rd wine of Cos d'estournel. Purple in color. The nose has plums, slight cassis and cedar. On the palate, this is solid. Pretty one dimensional but tasty. Some depth if not super complex. Light tannins. Good finish. A nice wine. No idea on pricing though.

Similar to my previous tasting note. Still heavily influenced by oak. A big wine which could come from anywhere. Certainly drinkable, not as flabby as last time, but boring and rather annoying (due to the famous winemaking team behind it).

Disappointing drink. Expected more from 2010. Nose was mild. Finish short to medium. Something missing... Doubt will improve over time. The la Dame de Montrose from the same vintage was a far better drop!

The wine is not particularly bad, it just annoys me that I could be so much better given the vintage and the money put to work by the winemaker. Very deep color, oily, a little dull. Nose of black fruit and lots of heavily toasted oak, some cabernet greenness. In the mouth soft texture, less acidity than expected given the vintage and overall no real tension. On the next day, the material underneath showed a little better, but still, this …

Wine tasting luncheon (La Rochelle Aoyama (Tokyo)) : The least uninspiring wine of today's wine tasting luncheon. This is at least balanced, but almost devoid of anything that spells out as "personality". Tastes great, but bland. Blinded, would have guessed a little ambitious New World over-polished style CS in a heavy btl and a small straw ornament hanging over its neck, sold as a super bargain at Tax Free at $12 a btl and a quote on the shelf by …

This wine certainly will get better with time. I should note I didn't do a 2-4 hour decant. I would recommend doing so.

Fairly tannic, 2 hours in decanter did not do much to open it up. Tad too much oak for my taste and lack of fruit. Not really my cup of tea. I would wait a couple of years to open another bottle and hope it mellows down a bit.

The third wine by Cos d'Estournel. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (80%) and Merlot (20%). 14% alcohol. Dark and almost completely opaque cherry red color with subtle, youthfully purple highlights. The nose is very robust with powerful aromas of charred meat, ripe blackcurrants, earthy tones, a little bit of barnyard, a hint of smoky, toasty wood and a touch of dry-cured meat. There's an obvious streak of toasty oak, but there's also a lot of other things going as well …

dark, or almost inky color. decanted for 1.5hrs and drank over 2 hrs. enticing nose of blackberry, licourice. on palate, it was very tannin and heavy on palate upon first tasting. things started falling in together after 2 hrs, when the tannin mellow down, and texture got smoother, less oak. good QPR.
