Clear deep ruby. This is quite tense. Plenty of flavor, but not a ton of charm at this time. Seems like a dumb period

Helder, medium robijnrood. Zuivere neus, medium intens, in ontwikkeling: specerijen, drop, iets vegetaal, zwart fruit. Na walsen peper, onderbos, grafiet. Droog, met eerder hoge zuren en tannine, hoge alcohol, medium body. Medium smaakintensiteit: grafiet, zwart fruit. Middellange afdronk, evenwichtig. Goede wijn, mag nog wat liggen.

2008 vintage

Leuchtendes Rot, viel dunkle Beeren-Frucht, Tanine schon etwas abgerundet, aber immer noch etwas Grip. Macht Spaß. Am zweiten Tag ist der Wein nicht besser, aber auch nicht schlechter. Wegen des Sediments empfiehlt es sich, den Wein zu karaffieren.

Good purity of fruit, with plenty of cassis coming through. Tobacco, spicy oak, cinnamon, almond, mushrooms and sous bois. M+ body, High acidity, High drying tannins, Long finish. Really good purity of fruit and nice complexity, with great balancing acidity. Still quite structured and with the oak overpowering slightly; I'd wait another 5 years until it hits its peak for me for the oak and tannins to mellow. Plenty of structure, fruit, and acidity to age another 10-15 years.

Deep clear ruby black. Ripe dark currant flavors, with just a hint of an astringent medicinal finish which detracts. Moderate sediment Moderate tannins in the finish. This may benefit from more time

sb From 375 Still fairly deep purple with just a hint of age at the rim. Some old tired Bordeaux aromas Dry palate, somewhat astringent finish. This particular bottle hasn’t held up well and not as charming as several bottles from the same lot.

Glänzendes, dunkles Kirschrot, in der Nase dunkle Beeren, Cassis, Teer, etwas Kaffee, schlanker, strenger Körper, Graphit, Säure an den Kanten, wenig Mitte, Bittermandel, leicht salzig, Sauerkirsche. Ich denke, der Wein passt gut zu einem Entrecote. Tag zwei: Strenge und das leicht Bittere ist in den Hintergrund getreten, zu Gunsten von Fülle und einer angenehmen Fruchtsüße von Maulbeeren. In diesem Alter braucht der Wein offensichtlich sehr viel Luft.

Still quite vital and betrayingly youthful, not aromatically super expressive, it is solid in the mouth with ample resolved structural tannins and brairy fruit. Nice linger and balance make it a good steak wine or in tonight’s case a foil to a Tuscan bean stew.

Quite a deep colour; soft, but well structured and quite stylish, with pure fruit but not a lot of complexity. Medium weight. A good cru bourgeois. From a half bottle.

Will never be great in this vintage, but has improved since previous bottle. Leather and cassis on the nose, quite earthy on the palate.

2007 vintage

Medium weight blackcurrant fruit, nicely rounded, and quite stylish; an attractive cru bourgeois, drinking well now.

2008 vintage

Nicely developed and just what you expect of a decent claret. Nothing really rising above its station but it was quite pleasing wth the meal. Not over the hill at all. Last bottle in cellar.

Straight forward Saint Julien. Delicate nose of dark fruit. A touch of Saint Julien minerality. Very balanced and elegant. Young but not overpowered tannins. Drying finish. 88-89+ points

Lovely expression of Saint Julien, there is elegance yet there is power. One of my favorites from the Left Bank in this Grand Cercle tasting.

This is now tasting quite mature, with noticeable secondary flavours. Slightly rustic and a bit short on the finish, but a good cru bourgeois. From a half bottle.

Nice color. The nose was round and inviting, showing aromas of red currant, cassis, flowers, herbs and some oak. This is medium full bodied on the palate with good concentration and good finesse. The medium plus length finish features ripe tannins.

It's ok, a reasonable cru bourgeois, lacks something, but it has some blackcurrant, a hint of graphite the palate is just not balanced, it's dry has some fruit, pencil shavings and acid but it's not rounded enough for me, maybe needs another year to get the balance right. 84 points

Medium red colour; nose quite forthcoming, with blackcurrant and plum; light to medium weight palate, with good, ripe and well-rounded fruit; a slightly rustic stalkiness, with some dilution in mid-palate. Decent enough for a cru bourgeois.

Classic west-bank Bordeaux. Blackberry, pencil, flesh and integrated oak on the nose. Nice fruit and good acidity. Not very complex.

2007 vintage

Started off rather neutral and austere when I open it. With time (1hr) it opened and became a decent claret, not so much fruit or ripeness but primarily briar and complexity with developed tannin and balanced acid. It was a good companion to a steak. Will have the balance tomorrow night and see if it improves. At any rate it is time to drink the other bottles in the cellar.

Attractive, not too complicated, medium weight claret, with some youthful fruit and good balance; a good cru bourgeois which should keep well.

2008 vintage

This is developing in to an attractive, well-structured wine, with ripe blackcurrant and plum fruit, good weight and reasonable length. Earlier examples were a bit underwhelming, but this has now opened up well, although it still has plenty of life ahead of it. From a half bottle.

A deep, still youthful colour; blackcurrant and spice on the nose; there is some development on the palate which is showing well-rounded, ripe fruit. This is an attractive, mid-weight claret with the potential to develop further. A very good cru bourgeois. From a half bottle.

Day 1 there was a small promise noticeable, good cassis, some nice oak, firm acidity and tannin, but over the evening the wine closed itself. Day 2 it was still closed and not really a feast. Dark ruby. Mature bouquet with acidity and fruit. Not a really complex, but overall a pleasant taste. The tannin is mature. The aftertaste medium long. Ok, but not special.
