J. Moreau & Fils Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos

OG Lunch - Holiday Party (Lonny's Place, Mpls) : Well, I was really looking forward to this. But, sadly it was rather advanced and really pretty boring with some oxidation. Drinkable, but nowhere near what it should be.

With oysters out, this shows beautifully mature and impactful. 91+

This doesn’t show the cut, complexity, breeding or depth of better producers’ GCs. Merely very good (or “so-so Les Clos”).

nice golden yellow colour , at first nose of lemon vannela and pineapple think this is at it's peak now

Manque de typicité. Le bois se fait encore sentir. Vanille, noisette, beurre...difficile de retrouver le terroir.

Aroma of apples and wet stone. On the palate, green apple, lemon, gunflint. Unctuous, waxy texture. Great, citric juicy acidity on the finish. Good weight and complexity. Fantastic value for the price.

Mid weight. Medium acid. Stone. Lemon. This may not be the most complex or flavorful grand cru chablis but for the price this is a hit.

Loads of mineral on the nose coupled with a little anise. It is rich with good line. Doesn’t have the depth or cut of great Chablis but good none the less.

Unusual with spices predominant as well as nice fruit. Good.

Only mid-weight Clos but correct and nicely proportioned. There are some freshly cut pear notes and a little iodine. It is full and citrussy in the mouth with decent generosity and a river rock clean finish.
