Blind Tasting - Malbec (Forrest Hill, Auckland) : dark purple red, dense packed dark berries, dark plum, some spices and vanilla. full body with solid structure, alcohol warm, ripe, smooth and moderate tannins, a firm and concentrated core, slightly fruity sweet. very good on its concentration and complexitiy. I guess it's Church Road, not too far, but got surprised to the age. it tastes so vigorous and young! rated #2 by me, and #1 by the group BC 92, RC …

Appealing intense savoury nose. Full flavoured ripe fruit palate balanced with a long soft tannin finish. A little bit of alcohol burn at the end but easily overlooked given the bold fruitiness and elegance of this wine. Drinking especially well now.

A stunning Reserve Syrah, blended from the best parcels from our premium vineyards in Hawkes Bay’s Gimblett Gravels. Deep, almost inky purple hues lead to a dense and perfumed nose of pepper, black liquorice and graphite, alongside fragrant notes of violets and cocoa. Refined tannins provide for wonderful texture, encasing concentrated fruit characters on the palate which steadily build towards a long finish. Careful cellaring will reward with further complexity over many years.
