Cherries , iron , almonds a touch of high class cough sweet on the palate - lovely wine

Lovely example of marcillac. Slightly fuller bodied than others with some subtle earthy notes. Nice silky feel in mouth. Great example of a lesser known wine. Great value at £11.

My previous bottle was corked but this one was firing on all cylinders. Some people prefer the more merry rusticity of Lo Sang but I disagree that greater seriousness detracts from what Marcillac has to offer. This one has the tangy red fruit of its junior but adds greater roundness and depth together with suaver texture. The result is an elegant wine which I fancy could continue developing complexity with more age. Very good.

Tout en élégance et finesse. Tannins soyeux. Pas à l’image du Sud-Ouest.

Corked

Fer Servadou variety, 50+ years old vines. Medium body. Fruity, yet leathery dry. Persistent and definitely still in progress of aging. I decided to taste it along a roasted partridge and buckwheat dish and it worked very well. Mencia/Blaufränkisch type of wine. Very good.
