Rhone Around the Globe wine tasting, Le Petit Sommelier restaurant, Athens, Greece. Another disappointment! This was also quite past its prime. Dark ruby. Meaty and red berry aromas with cooked fruit indicating overmatuerity. Mid-full bodied with soft tannins and good acidity but the fruit is fading...Med-long finish.

Ruby purple with ruby violet edges. Somewhat raisined nose with ripe plums and a herbal edge too. Very smooth sweet entry. Big ripe tannins, medium + acidity and a spicy peppery edge on the finish. Very good. Has certainly improved in later vintages.

A blend of 92% Syrah and 8% Viognier, aged for 24 months in new french oak barrels. Deep ruby with a black core. Popped and poured. At the beginning shy nose , but after some aeration reveals aromas of cherries, strawberries, chocolate, tar and cooked meats. Full - bodied with well integrated tannins and flavors of wild cherries, plums, figs, leather, coffee, chocolate and spices (cinnamon, clove, pepper). Quite too much oak. Long aftertaste.
