I debated between this and a 2004 Tablas Panoplie. Opened this without thinking much about it. Initial tastes made me think I was drinking the Panoplie. Does better with air. Initially very Rhone-like, with a lot of game. With time, this rounds out, with pinot earthiness and the slightest hint of pinot sweetness / aromatics. On the palate, a similar evolution. I very much like this wine, but it is unlike any domestic Pinot I've had recently. Very sauvage and …

the years have been kind to this wine. It opened up with a strong fruity aroma which led to good smooth fruit taste; well integrated and delightful. A very pleasant wine.

Good, not great. A little too simple, with a so-so finish.

Cesare's Group (Home - Minnesota) : For whatever reason, my favorite pinot of the night. I was alone in this regard. I found this to be well balanced with great depth of fruit. A bit young, I would probably leave this one alone for another couple of years, or alternatively decant for an hour or two. This was popped/poured.

Pebble Beach Food and Wine; 3/27/2008-3/30/2008 (Pebble Beach Resort, CA) : Sweet cherry on the nose, with a smooth fine grained palate with hints of earth and mineral on the long finish.

A very nice pinot, although a bit simpler than I was hoping. No notes taken, but I recall wonderful fruit and not much minerality or other complexities.

another lovely showing from this wine. Earthy, shrooms, huge core of fruit shows supple, if few, tannins and fabulous mouthfeel. very smooth. 3rd time have tasted this wine and it's good everytime.

This wine I had grabbed for New Years Eve and it had been so memorable and lovely that I snagged another bottle. This is an elegant, dark and well balanced wine. Impressive fruit and great mouthfeel leading to a great finish. Well integrated and possessing all the qualities you would want in a Pinot Noir. Very delicious- need to find more!

I spied this bottle in the seafood shop as Chris and I selected the seafood for our New Years Eve Tapas extravaganza. It was a nice decision as it turned out to be a lovely, well structured and delicious bottle. I fully enjoyed its structure and make-up. It had character and some complexity and was an excelent choice to accompany our dinner and ring in 2006.

Decanted for about two hours. Fairly light purple color, completely clear, medium body. Not a whole lot of aroma, more perfume than anything. Palate is a nice balance of coffee with some dark plum, some heat, fair amount of tannin, but needs more time to come together. Just an OK finish. Could be an off bottle, I liked this more six months ago.

Opened not decanted. Sweet thick nose of a dark syrup with raisins and currants and a dry finish. Good.

Thanksgiving Weekend in Willamette; 11/25/2005-11/27/2005 (Willamette Valley OR) : Tasting at Shea Open House. Strawberry and floral nose with taste to match. Good, big fruit but certainly not massive. Tannins in balance, seems a bit short on acidity and energy. Short finish. Drink young.

What can I say..........it seems like everything that comes out of Shea vinyards is great. This is a nice medium bodied Pinot with upfront acidity balanced by a good bit of crushed cherry and raspberry fruit, and all underscored by a strong minerality.......like the smell of wet stones. It is a good balance and has a warm lingering finish. Very good, should be better in about 4-5 years.
