A magical bottle, a flavor that I have never had in wine, a 卤水花生,or roasted peanut in a briny water flavor. It’s a combination of umami, saline, peach and oily flavor from sémillon.

Best so far of the case. Beautifully mature white. Real harmony of taste here - best after one hour.

Waxy, honey, orange, became less 'oxidized' with some air, and a true joy to drink.

This was a controversial wine at the table and while I admit that I usually don't care much for aged dry white Bordeaux, I loved this. Darkish color and quite oxidized in style with an oily beeswax texture and ripe flavors of apricots, honey and mint along with extremely complex mineral notes and very vibrant acidity. It all comes together at the finish with great tautness and grip and a touch of metallic funk.

From magnum. served 45 minutes after opening. Very fragrant, ripe on the palate but still got the acidity. Drinking very well right now.

Showing some oxidation with the wine showing darker colours, however, it was still highly enjoyable. The nose was a little muted but the palate was excellent with apricot and white plum with crushed stone and some honeyed notes. Similarly the finish was top rate with good balance and acidity. This was decanted as recommended and interestingly it continued to improve in the glass behaving more like a red cabernet. It is such a shame that the slight oxidation compromised the …

Tasted blind. This is rich and ripe with lots of stone fruit, yellow apple, quince, some nutty, herbal and oak aromas. Intense palate rich with searing acidity and and well measured oxidative finish. Almost like a mature white Rhone blend but with higher acidity.

Vivacious and interesting. Just a hint of evolution. Pretty powerful. No hurry to drink these.

Fully concur with the last post. Just 2 bottles left from a case kept in ideal conditions. Deep gold in colour very little nose and oxidised.

Agree with BurgNick, nose was a bit muted in the beginning, on the palate, showed canadian flower honey, stony fruits, minerality, dried herbs, and a touch of cinnamon, the wine developed more weight over next few hours, the nose was opened up later on, the weight added a bit more creaminess to the palate, like a baked citrus pie. I wonder if we should have decanted this wine. According to Neal Martin’s recent vertical tasting, he thinks this wine “requires …

Nose was a bit muted. It had some honey, mint and yellow fruit. Rich on the palate with decent balance. But it was quite simple.

This was another bottle purchased at the same time as the last bottle. However, this wine appeared notably different. It had a gold center and clear rims. The nose was a bit oxidized at first but this largely blew off after a couple hours of air to show candle wax, apricots, lemon, and some honey. In the mouth, this wine was rich and ripe but had firm acidity to balance out the dramatic texture. It had very nice length. Overall …

This has everything you need in a classic white Bordeaux wine with its citrus, lemon peel, stone and floral aromatics, rich textures and long, fresh, citrusy, honey tinged, concentrated finish.

From a pristine bottle purchased on release, this wine had a yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose displayed lemon custard, wet stones, almond paste, and a bit of honey. In the mouth, this wine was ripe and rich and yet firm and still a bit young. It had lovely balance but I felt the wine was not really showing all it has yet. If you decide to pop this, I would suggest a 4+ hour decant. Alternatively, …

Naso elegante, pulito, preciso e mobile, ampio, pesca matura, lanolina, molto balsamico, benzina. Grande stratificazione palatale, è denso ma equilibratissimo e scorrevole, polposo, acidità e mineralità uniscono le forze e sorreggono con grande equilibrio la materia.

sherry-like nose that shows a bit of smoke and mint; otherwise the wine is incredibly dry, with very little fruit

La Mission Haut Brion; 3/9/2012-3/10/2012 (Burg Staufeneck) : Yellow fruit in the nose. Velvety palate, slightly oxidized. Still nice but on its way out.

Second time in a week I have this wine. During the first 1 hour in the glass, there is little evidence that this is a 16 year old wine. A hint of orange, but otherwise restrained nose. After 2 hours, there are multilayered sensations of honey, cinnamon, marcipan and rubber. The mouthfeel is smooth but with an incredibly long and persistent finish built on mouthwatering, savoury acidity. After 4 hours, and at room temperature, it still clears the mouth in …
