Solid but not spectacular. It began to open up with lot of air time on day two. Then the finesse and black cherries began to show up. Next time schedule a lengthy rest in the decanter.

Med Garnet with some fading to edges. Jumps out of the glass upon pouring. Intense red fruit with earthy influence; round, generous. Good acidity overall very balanced. Long delicious finish, but not flashy. Well made. This is what you want. Substance over style

First bottle was sort of muted, this one sings! Outstanding freshness and poise on the nose, rhubarbs, beetroot and gooseberry, then a seamless palate with velvety tannins, fresh acidity and superb fruit notes, decent length and luminous energy. A dream in that space.

PnP. Did build up in the glass. Nevertheless will drink my remaining bottles soon since the wine gives so much. Wonderful drinking. Sad that prices for recent vintages have risen so much. Great bottle for 50 bucks but now well over 100 usd is quite steep. But in each case a nice burgundian experience.

PnP: classic Burgundian red fruits softening now after 8 years. As the wine opens, some floral notes add to the soft, yet not somber, red fruit. Cedar chest, forest mushroom, and sandy loam are also noticable. On the palate the fruit seems a touch watered down. The tannin is beginning to resolve but is still noticeable with med to med-minus acidity giving me the impression that this wine should go for a few more years. No need to open now. …

From Magnum. Another convincing red from Lafon. Initially closed but with 2h of aeration the wine started to blossom. This has some grippy tannins despite it being a an light bodied wine, made for the long haul. The strong suit here are the deep and complex aromas full of herbs, forest floor, pine, red current. Excellent and sauvave. Good QPR. Drink after 2021.

This was fine - but it's by no means great, or even very good. It's medium-bodied, fairly forward, with adequate but not overbearing acidity. But it's not the kind of vibrant, ripe acidity that lends structure; it's more of a pointed, slightly strident acidity, even though the overall acidity level is not that high. Comtes-Lafon masterclass with Dominique Lafon. Very expressive notes of sweet red and dark berries, raspberries, steel, white pepper and some violets. It's medium+ bodied but dense, with pretty high acidity and medium+ tannin that is super silky. Excellent length. A very impressive Volnay from this difficult vintage for red Burgundy. A lot of finesse and silkiness.

Popped and pour for a guest during service. This was showing great on the night, opening almost straight away into brambly red and black cherry, raspberries, aromatic asian spices and a hint of smoked wood. The palate was quite impressive: no hint of greenness for such a vintage. So vibrant, crunchy and svelte. Plenty of fresh strawberries and rasperries, framed by tingling acidity and kitten tongue tannins.
