A tell-tale côte-rôtie with olives, hanged meat, all the fixers, lacking (compared to, say, Jamet) only the extremely concentrated, direct and vibrant fruit. Still, this is a classic wine, drinking a point - many years to go. #Kandestederne

My first experience with the appellation and unfortunately I didn’t take notes. Very much like burgundy on the nose and nicely structured on the palette. Very keen to try more

Opened seven hours prior to drinking. One hour slow oxidation. A medium ruby core fading to a pale ruby outer edge. There’s a lot going on here. Black peppercorns, blood, bovine skin, black plum skin, black cherry, lilacs, liquorice, wood spice, hedgerow, white smoke, roasted vine tomatoes, and balsamic. A supremely layered, aromatic, and inviting nose. Less complex on the palate but what it lacks in complexity it more than makes up for in texture, which is silken and refined. …

Some Syrah perfume with white pepper, medium volume and good acidity but all in all relatively simple. Does not live up to the expected level for a Côte Rôtie.

Very nice aromatics despite that it lacks a little weight, very persistent flavours, fruit receeded slightly, pepper, violets, tar, chinese ink. Nice but on the way down...drink up if any left in the cellar within 2 years.

Very good to drink now. Very typicial cote rotie aromas with that nice acidic sour plum mixed with strewberry jam, vanilla and oak. Sour plum also on the palate withdry oaky plum finishing.

The better of 2 Northern Rhones we enjoyed. Full bodied, with rich berry, tar and olive notes. WS says drink by 2012, but WA says good through 2024 - I agree with WA (Parker) on this one.

Medium garnet colour. The nose shows pronounced intensity aromas of prunes, black pepper and hints of cedar and black olives. The wine is dry in the mouth with a high crisp acidity. It has medium+ fine-grained tannins and a medium alcohol. It has a medium+ body and pronounced intensity flavours. The finish is medium+. It is a very good quality wine. The nose seems a bit tired but it keeps freshness of flavours in the mouth and a crisp acidity. …

Super wine but as per my comment from Xmas 2013 I think this is now fully mature and will not gain from further keeping, but neither will it go down hill quickly.

For the first hour open this was all about plums, black pepper and meat roasted over a smoky campfire. After sitting open on the counter for 10 hours, it blossomed into a really elegant, gracious pitch perfect Syrah that seemed to be just entering maturity. The fruit broadened to include more cherry and raspberry while holding on to plums and blueberry; the smoke and roasted meat resolved into a more earthy/gamy back beat, and the structure opened up a bit …

Agreed, this is not a blockbuster/power wine. This wine is all about elegance, finesse and structure. It opens up beautifully after 2-3 hours in the decanter. The nose is floral, red fruit and has some spiciness (pepper). On the palette, red fruit again with nice acidity and fully integrated tannins. I liked it a lot. It deserves more than the current CT average score (89.7).

Consistent with my note from 18 months ago, this is so under-stated yet truly delightful to drink. Mature yet with enough vibrancy to be true to its origins. I think it is at its peak, and will hold there another 3 years.

Elegant red fruit nose with mint and hints of eucalyptus. Palate of lean red to black fruit with spicy hints of cinnamon and white pepper. Nice length. Wine drinking very well.

Sure, this is not a big wine, but it opens with a great array of interesting smells that just keep coming-- raspberry, tar, lavender, darker fruits, pepper.... Medium bodied, smooth and pleasantly long. This is true Northern Rhone lightness of touch.

Nez menthe avec quelques notes épicés, très frais. Ouvrir 1h avant et servir a une temp de 16-18 max. Avec salade au poulet. Loin de son potentiel.

Very fine and elegant with red fruits, eucalyptus, florals and pepper. Much lighter than other vintages of bécasses but good lenght and balance. Very pleasurable to drink. Needs another two to three years to peak.
