It is a darker fruit Wine both on account om the vintage and Rougets style. Very open and primært, spices - would have blind guessed Vosne without doubt. Blueberries. A hint of burned notes from the oak. Very fine and has surely a long live ahead of it, but not a shame drinking it.

Opened in Hong Kong. P&P, but enjoyed slowly over a few hours. Not sure what to make of this wine. I was expecting something a bit more forwardly seductive, but this was quite dark and brooding. Quite smokey, the fruits were subdued and needed a bit of air to coax out - and even then they weren't too expressive, and had a mix of red and dark fruit together. Good minerality, acidity, structure and clean overall (befitting of no stems …

Youthful. Though youthful, it's approachable and with medium tannin. Red fruits, flora.

A tasting with Emmanuel Rouget (Flagey-Echézeaux) : Raised in 100% new wood, this was more masculine and firm than the preceding wines; still rich and generous but needing more time to reveal itself and its bouquet.

Rouget Afterparty (Chez Holmes - Chicago IL) : This had been opened two days earlier and the remaining wine (1/2 bottle?) recorked and refrigerated. Mostly red fruit with a robust earthy, meaty, tannic character. Needs time to soften.

Subtle nose of red fruit, plum and stone. Burst of honey on the palate. Sweet delicate red fruit. Pretty villages.

The 1993 Rouget NSG is a very compelling wine in its rather masculine, hard style, opening in the glass with a complex bouquet of red-black fruits, rich earth, black tea and smoky grilled meat. On the palate the wine's structural chassis of firm tannin and vivid acids is still very much apparent, but there is enough generosity and suppleness to make the wine very attractive in its genre. Out of magnum this was still very youthful, and still ascending, so …

Fine, floral and punchy on the nose. There's crisp red berry fruit and good minerally detail. It is very elegant with a tart whip of the vintage's acidity providing cut to the finish.

Strålende vin fra en av mine absolutte favorittprodusenter. Drikker best uten for mye lufting og gjerne litt kald (15 grader). Alt i alt en strålende vin som dessverre litt for mange har oppdaget og dermed har prisene "tatt helt av"..............
