The most viscous Gruner I can recall. Fresh and excellent.

Served as part of a large group dinner, this bottle stole the show for me and many other participants. Long-aged Grüner Veltliner isn’t something a lot of people have tried, so it was a bit of an unknown quantity for most. With a rich, almost to the point of unctuous palate presence, warm spice, classic white pepper, and still a touch of that green, cress-like freshness, this was about as complete a bottle as I have ever tasted in my …

Imbibing this fine cuvée by Broen, Weingut Bründlmayer never disappoints. Here the Grüner Veltliner Langenloiser Alte Reben (v21, 13% ABV) - a demonstration of majestic winemaking (old vines, fermented in used 300 l Austrian oak casks) - truly concentrated & forceful, superb viscosity. Pale straw-yellow in appearance. Classic GV-scents mixed with oak-influence, barrel spice, vanilla, yellow fruit, grape, lime & lemon. M+-bodied palate, exquisitely vinous, fresh & mineraldriven, grape acid, closing spicy & bitter!

Brundlmayer tasting (WSPC) : Beautiful, bright, spicy, green notes, stone fruit, a touch peppery, round profile. Palate is very smooth, elegant, stone fruit, melon but also peppery, high acidity, a bit tight for now, full body, textured, long finish, minty, tasty. Beautiful

Very crisp and mineral. Quite straight on the palate and maybe a bit too straight.

Five years ago I said this was fully mature. It still is. There has been no deterioration. It’s still riding a plateau. It’s full bodied because it’s full flavored. The aged elements have broadened the palate, adding golden tones to the green that is Grüner Veltliner. It’s almost as if someone braised an orange rind and fresh hay in a broth of Grüner. Really delicious. Drink it now and enjoy.

Fully mature and delicious. Fresh orange peel and spice accompany a lingering cress and lime core, with a forest floor/leafy finish. The acidity is mouthwatering, and makes the wine too easy to drink. If you have any of this, do yourself a favor and open some.

Light, fresh and aromatic. Guessed it was a Condrieu. So, wrong..

(Grüner Veltliner Tasting at WineGate) Rich and mostly sweetly perfumed nose with almond hints here and there. Full palate, balancing acidity, despite its age it has fresh notes, exotic fruits, but with spicy notes as well, ending with a medium aftertaste.

In his youth a monolith, pure like glacier, strong and layer over layer of purest minerality. Now very strange, smooth, cooked vegetables, no more primary aromas; the tertiary aromas are full developed. 'Inhis youth 94 points, now more or less of 88.

Very tight. Needs a ton of air to show off its unevolved, classical Grüner pepper and green fruit tones.

Sulfur vegetal smell that blows off with air. Nose is very tight, hints at wet stones, some floral hints, celery. Broad palate with excellent balance. Needs more or time or a serious decant right now. Half bottle saved for tonight. Really good on day two, none of the funky stuff, just very nice expression of Gruner V.

Amazing wine. Initially all rocks, brothy lentils and earth. Then it takes off with lemon lime crystal acids. Very solid from start to finish.

Austria (Wine Exchange in Orange, CA) : Highly expressive, showing dough, filberts, and oustanding minerality. Intense palate presence full of caraway and pleasant stemminess.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #026; Austria: White wines. (By AW) : Bizarre bouquet; a bit organic in the nose at first. Minerals. The bouquet is still locked. In the taste flowers and citrus and a long and pure aftertaste. Complex wine.

A spectacular Grüner Veltliner! Lots of lemon, wet stone, and zingy acidity. This thing is vibrant and aggressive, coursing across the palate, very energetic in the mouth. Some nice saline/mineral shows up on the finish. This bottle didn't stand a chance. As it warmed some notes of quince and honey appear on the nose, but when cool this is a razor. Delicious summer wine!

Wow! Theise called this his GruVe of the 2004 vintage and so far I must agree. An impressive wine. Round yet very racy. Some sweetness was present. A very aromatic wine with solid acidity. Notes of fresh lime, lemon and spice. Long clean finish. 92-93 points.
