I bought this wine for 7 bucks back in 2012. It was very acidic, coarse and tannic back then. What a surprise tonight! Soft tannins, the fruit is weak, but still present enough to make it a nice experience, view that my expectations were rather low. Pretty good balance. The finish is short but pleasant. I have a couple of 2009 I'm looking forward to drinking later this year.

Ripe blueberries and raspberries, slight smoke. Fine tannins, smooth mouthfeel, plenty of acidity make this an easy drinking, food friendly wine. A very good value. (My memory of this as a younger wine was one of coarse, harsh tannins. It has mellowed.)

"The 2007 Monte Antico Toscana IGT is another wine that got rave reviews for the previous vintage, but seems to have fallen off. We thought the wine was good but not great. Not quite as good as I recall the first bottle being. Perhaps my mouth was in a happier place when the first bottle was consumed. A bit flat and thin. Nose of very little fruit and leather. Taste was mostly bitter oak with a little hint of grape. I think the wine benefited a bunch having a flavorful deep dish pizza to go along with. Not bad but not going on the must buy more list.
