This had been sitting for a year or two in the back of the cellar in a mixed case of "gift wine" that I always seemed to steer clear of when grabbing a bottle for dinner. I would eye the case and feel momentarily guilty that I had shunned it for so long before moving on to my "sure thing" bottles. But tonight the guilt got the better of me. The Santa Carolina has a musty, tired nose, like it …

A little bit chilled this tastes like pure blackberry and blueberry juice. Ok, the wine is not complex, but for the rest everything is ok in this wine; full bodied, pleasant acidity and tannin as well as a touch of sweetness and some oak. Amazing for less than $6.

É o típico vinho para dia a dia. Custo interessante mas um vinho para degustar sem compromisso. =================================================== It is the typical wine for everyday. Cost interesting but for a wine tasting without compromise.

Dark red wine, good weight, full body. Lots of fruit and oak in the palate with good finish. Very good overall.

Dark red. Sweet start with soft tannin and red as well as black fruits. Pleasant oak and spiciness. In the finish the ripe dark fruits dominate. A basic plus wine and a bargain for a price below $6.

Weekly tasting group #017; A fully blind test. (@ DJ) : Deep dark purple red. Ripe blackberries in the bouquet as well as some smoke and good oak. Sweet start, ripe black berry fruits and good oak again. Surprisingly good for this supermarket wine below $10. Give it a few years of ageing.

Drank it the same day I bought it. Read my notes after tasting and it said wait 2 years before opening. Oops! 1st taste maybe a 78, down the drain it almost went. Read my notes, ran it though a Venturi decanter and it scored 80. Ran it though twice more and it scored 79. Ok, tried again running it though only twice and that appears to be the best this bottle will every be, an 82. I'll toss it …
