Pop and pour. Enjoyed over 4 hours. Glasvin The Kane stem. Dark purple ruby color. Nose shows a little cough syrup, but then moving on from that, hints of dark cherries, licorice, and, believe it or not, fresh cut hay. Good fresh intro with lively acidity. Some smoky meats and dark berries mixing in with spice notes and touch of oak on the finish. Much depth here. Long finish. Excellent. 15.6% abv. Even at the 15.6 % level, the acidity …

Interesting blend with extended barrel age. Still tannic but in a good structured way. Dark as night and quite complex. Very thought provoking.

Opened 4 hours in advance. Dark red fruit on the nose. The palate was dark cherry, cassis, some raspberry, wood and hints of spice. The finish was very long and smooth. It was consumed with a Pork Chop Milanese.

Decanted 90 minutes. Notes of black raspberry, cassis, damp earth and game. Nicely balanced with well integrated tannins and long finish. Paired with baby back ribs.

Really delightful. Nose is loaded with intense purple fruit and licorice. The palate is deep, intense and concentrated. Notes of black cherry, plum, strawberry, licorice, flowers and coconut. Beautiful.

Really interesting blend from Saxum, more Syrah than Grenache. Hides the octane really well, no heat just smooth and soft tannins. Long pleasant finish with boysenberry notes.

Bright red cherry and blueberries. A little floral accent, and high alcohol, with a little tannic and acidic edge. Complex, bright but balanced, and very enjoyable!

After giving San Roman my WOTY designation only last week, this wine stunned us over Easter weekend. Booming nose of perfumed violet and lilac, evoking the spring air outside. The flavors were pronounced and reminiscent of a high-end NapaCab – blueberry pie filling, black tea leaves, clove – a pleasure to drink. Might show less octane that some other Saxums (and maybe that is why this isn’t rated as high by CT or the professionals), but it's a great find …

This is drinking beautifully, but is not a PnP. On pop the wine is acidic, tannic and alcoholic, and you could see someone giving a sub-90 score. This is the impatient drinker. But patience will provide great rewards. Let it open, for like 5-7 hours. Then, holy moly, loads of exotic spices on the nose, perfectly balanced on the palate yet somehow light despite the ABV. Tannins become fine, acid integrates into the background, and you get giant dark fruit …

Like all Saxum wines, this is a rich mouthful of a wine, but magically it's not heavy. There's so much going on with this wine right now that it's amazing how balanced it is. Food friendly and also happy and satisfying enough on its own. Lot of fruit, black fruits mostly, lots of herbs, a slight touch of vanilla, and a long long finish. Nice acidity that keeps it fresh. Really nice.

Still young; opened and closed per Justin's recco, which later in the day worked great as usual. Still tannic with some heat, tar, blackberry and pine straw, with a brief finish.

A big wine with ABV of 15.7% which pushes the envelope a little for my tastes. Nonetheless it is smooth and redolent of black fruits with a long polished finish. Not sure this can really improve with age as the structure is massive

15.6% abv. Opened five hours prior to tasting, probably should have decanted. Dark cherry, cocoa, black pepper and olive. Good depth, excellent length. This wine needs another 3-4 years in the bottle.

Took both bottles to a party to watch the 49ers lose to the LA Rams. Ughh. I didn't take notes but this was a knockout and everyone thought it was absolutely delicious. Putting a score out there with no tasting details. Sorry.

Needs time. Initially very tight with lots of acidity and tannin. Bright red fruit with some iron taste. Definitely improved over 2 hours in decanter but i think the best days are ahead of this wine. I would give it 5 years.

Six hour decant, followed over four hours. Captivating nose of dark berries and spice - anise, cracked pepper and clove. Leads with I iron and mineral notes, followed with white flowers, dark fruit compote - black cherries and plum. A mix of spice notes drift in and out. Agree with other reviewers, very approachable now - especially with lots of air - but it’s got a long life ahead too.

Such a friendly wine - and very indicative of the house, and the 2017 vintage for Saxum… hold if you want everything perfectly integrated - but it’s close enough to be a highly pleasurable drink today. Forward, round and bright. This wine (more so than other Saxums) has almost a sweet (don’t think it’s actual sweetness - just a sweet-ish fruit) edge to the super-red Grenache fruit. Exactly what i was hoping for from this wine.

My first experience with 4 Hearts, and it was pleasant. Rich nose. A big wine, but the notable tannins complement the fruit. Nice on PnP, but better after an hour. The unique blend of Petite Sirah, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon is well done. High stated alcohol, but the structure supports it nicely.

Drank over two days. Fun, fruity blend with firm tannins and nice acid lift. Long finish with dark fruit, earth, and savory herbs. This cuvee seems to be softer and less intense than some of the Saxums, which will please some and disappoint others, but it's surely a quality wine.

Nose is citrus rind (orange and lemon), almost absurdly poised on PnP, it’s smooth and crisp, follows the nose but adds depth of cherry - almost a melange if fruit a la sangria, same profile as a Cresta Velia PN but much more nuance, depth, and restraint - which is a great thing. 94+

Decanted 4 hours. Dark magenta color. Aromas of blueberry pie, blackberries and raspberry. Flavors match the fruit aromas and also expand in to pepper, cured meat and black licorice. Full bodied with smooth texture but then a tannic spine on the finish.
