Gut Hermannsberg, Just Riesling, Nahe

Light colour, smells of melon and lovage, light body, has a certain residual sugar (so is not completely dry), medium acidity (could have more to balance the residual sugar better), in the mouth melon and a little bit of lovage, in the aftertaste melon, a little bit of acidity and a dash of lovage, good length (15 sec), nice Riesling, yet I prefer the Nahesteiner Riesling by Diel when it comes to Nahe Gutsriesling

Compared to 2016 this has more body and weight. The lime and minerality are the same. Good concentration, great balance. Smooth and long, clean varietal character. The grapes are from Grosses Gewächs vineyards only. Made to astonishing 11,5% alcohol this fresh, zesty and dry shape. This is big wine made for everyday pleasure.

Nose of steel, gravel, and some petrol, with some mineral and floral notes (elderflower). Palate is very dry and steely, resembling flat soda water, with touches of lime and fresh orange.

Screw cap. The wine was light to medium lemon in colour an offered grapefruit, lemon, green apple and some peach on the nose. On the palate the wine showed grapefruit, lemon, green apple and a hint of young peach, supplemented by chalk on the finish, with high, lively acidity and very good length. A very fresh, balanced, medium-bodied Riesling that offered a very good QPR. Will buy again. Drink now.
