Domaine Weinbach, Sylvaner Reserve, Alsace

Wine Education Service - Alsace - Domaine Weinbach (Imperial College) : Greenish light gold. Aromatic, lemon, pleasant. Beautifully refreshing, a perfect Sylvaner, quite long.

A clear pale gold wine with a pronounced youthful floral aroma. Off dry with high acid and medium alcohol. It is full bodied and fleshy with generous fruit and pronounced floral characteristics. A touch of honey, perhaps from late harvested grapes or botrytis. This is a good quality wine with concentrated fruit flavours from late harvested quality grapes. The acid balances the slight sweetness nicely and the medium+ finish contributes to a very enjoyable wine.

light white pepper. some spice whose touchpoint would be indian food. pasta water. shale minerality. quite an expressive nose. the palate shows some extraction, which is asking for a food pairing. wet rock, a little of that creamy pasta water on the palate. the nose is so pronounced.

Tropical fruit, intensely racy, and just fun at the end of a long night of drinking.

Really strong contrast to Ostertag. More floral expression on the nose. Bill says tomatos and curry on the palate. Hints of Indian spice. Piercing acidity.
