Fruity, simple, tasty. Light cherry flavours from the sangiovese - never heard of Bondara, though. Not quite one note, but not complex either. A bit of very soft tannin to remind you it's wine, light body, a touch of toasty oak (oak chips?) at the back also.

Was pretty rough, even after 24 hours. Wouldn't buy again

So what do we have here? A blend of Sangiovese and Bonarda (Charbono). This has to be a first. I am not a big fan of this wine, to be honest, there is not enough here to offend my palate, and at $9 I have had worse, but any time I see a Charbono connection, my interest rises. The strong acidity reminds me of Italian wines at early release wines. There is a lot more black cherry than Sangiovese is …

A clear medium ruby in the glass, this inexpensive Italian sangiovese blend is well-made, if not my type. The nose is of cherries and the astringent, green, tell-tale smell of mourvedre, telling me that Bonarda is similar to mourvedre. This typicity carries over to the palate, with a sharply acidic green-ness. This was not a good match with pizza, nor would it be a very good match with any Italian food that I'm familiar with.
