Good value! Tastes so so. Quite light at the beginning and opened up after 30 minutes

Festa del Barolo Sydney 2025 (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street) : Plummy, earthy, simple nose. Sour acid, lacking in generosity. This doesn't really taste like Dolcetto to me. Harvested early? Covid vintage so perhaps that was a factor?

Fairly uninspiring, weak nose, not much on the palate. At little better on the second day, but was tasting a bit oxidized by the third day in spite of vacuum sealing. Not a good value for the $19 paid for it.

Really fun Dolcetto. Agree w/the other notes that say it's missing the eucalyptus notes. Overall an intensely dark fruit experience with a nice balance. Ridiculous value.

Dolcetto has no right being this good. Plenty of black and blue fruits, deep and with plenty of spice and cigar box. Drank over a couple of days and it only got better. Well-integrated and certainly will age rather gracefully.

Solid value here. Balanced, Piemonte character, good structure, great with a variety of dishes.

An already approachable, organically farmed Dolcetto wine sourced from two vineyard sites in the municipality of Barolo. Maturation: aged for seven months in stainless-steel tanks. Color: deep purple-red. Bouquet: intense aromas of violets, sour cherry, cranberry and hints of thyme and leather. On the palate: an intensely fruity wine offering loads of ripe red forest and plum fruit, quite elegant tannins and a well-balanced acid structure. Finish: long aftertaste with a touch of eucalyptus and menthol. Ready to enjoy now, …

Blueberries and blackberries on the nose, with a hint of toast. Lacking the eucalyptus/pine notes of earlier vintages, but nice depth for a Dolcetto. The palate shows a more complex fruit spectrum with good acidity and nice tannins. Always a superb effort from Vajra, and a star among Dolcetti.

PnP. Purple. Red fruits in the nose. Acidic and monolithic on the palate, better with food. (87-88).

Cola, cola, cola. Thyme. Nose got more floral with time in the glass. Tannins were in a great place. Enjoyable, well-made wine, esp at the $16 price point. Nice with a simple, roasted chicken. Right Bank Bordeaux was my other option, and I'm glad I opened this.

Other users have summed this up well. I get mostly black cherry, thyme, violet, and licorice notes. M+ acid and M tannin. It’s a solid food wine. My first Dolcetto; this will probably get put into the regular rotation. I left 75% in the fridge overnight and it didn’t get any better so I can’t see this benefitting from cellaring.

Fruity and confected on the nose but altogether more savoury (thyme) on the palate. Some violet and kirsch alongside the red fruit, but dominated by the tannins. Lacking a bit of definition. A real food wine.

Dark reddish-purple in color bordering on opaque. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries & blueberries with overtones of floral & earthy/dusty notes, herbs & minerals. Medium bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries & blueberries with herbs & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present although it might develop further with a year or so of additional aging.

This got a little lost as the second wine to a superb Barolo we were drinking for Christmas roast prime rib dinner. I don't think it ever fully opened and realized its potential. G.D. Vajra is usually a mark of quality, so I'd try it again, or maybe purchase some to lay down for a while. It's good juice in any case.

Here I found a dark and brooding bouquet, which gained richness and sweetness over time as it's intense blue and black fruits gave way to hints of cedar, grilled herbs, violets and floral undergrowth. Silky-soft textures caressed the palate with a vibrant zing of acidity adding a sharp lift, as ripe black fruits, blueberry skins, inner violet tones and minerals blanketed the senses. The finish was long with a staining of dark fruits, a bitter twang of black tea, dried …

Gonna move this up a point from last time. Everything I said plus. Really not like and dolcetto I've had before. Way more stuffing. Lots of blue fruits and a healthy amount of structure as well. Had it with a tomato sauce dish and it was an almost perfect match. Well worth getting.

As good a dolcetto as I've ever had. Agree with comments about blue and purple fruit and lots of minerality and acidity.

Excellent but still too young. Bracing acidity and minerality that gives the red fruit nice lift. Gonna wait on my other bottles to see where this goes. As it resolves I think it will be ever better.

Hands down the best dolcetto I've had. Gorgeous, dusty boysenberry aromas waft from the glass. The fruit is bluer on the palate and the whole package shows depth and beautiful structure. The earthiness here is elegant. Long finish and great with an array of foods, even a substantial fish!

similar aromatics to the normal dolcetto with purple aromatics, but richer and longer with a plump back end and complicating minerality.
