Not much left in the tank here, with more tart, than sweet fruits to accompany the tobacco, cedar, and leafy notes.

Broken cork, and some amount of sediment. But very good, all the attributes of Cabernet Sauvignon, cedar, pencil lead, didnt find any green pepper, no taste of oak, just a nice old Bordeaux. Yum.

Aged very well, cassis, Black current, cedar, just classic Cabernet, not sweet or oaky. A case years ago from Calvert Woodley. Still have a couple of bottles in the wood case, but time to drink if you have any. Lovely with last bit of grilled hanger steak from Bolyard's Meat & Provisions, St. Louis. Yum.

Very earthy, but also very green. Nice currant and plummy fruit but with powerful earthy green pepper note. Not sure if this would have tasted better earlier, but age did this bottle not many favours.

Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine. I have been targeting the 2000 Bordeaux in my cellar, and this is the fourth bottle I have had this week. Not a classified growth, but so what? None have disappointed. Fruit still there, great balance. Needs at least one hour in the decanter. A bit dry an uni-dimensional at first.

Nicely mature, mellow, cigar box and pencil lead with a hint of warm gravel. Drinking very nicely in a classic claret style. ***

A modest but quite nice wine. After a few hours of air, a fairly vivid aromatic profile emerges featuring both fruit and earthy notes, with just a bit of charcoal in the background. Not a ton or density or extraction on the palate, but good acidity complementing the plum and cherry fruit. A very faint vanillin note, as well. Theres a bit of bricking apparent and some forest floor flavors; Id say its at or at least close to peak, …

Work Wine Tasting - Chablis & Claret (Home) : Deep garnet. An attractive nose of blackcurrant leaf, graphite and cedar with a slightly minerally edge. Similar on the palate. This has interest and freshness with a nice line. A slightly gravelly edge to it. Good. ***

Color: I am astounded: The color is still deep and vivid. No signs of ageing whatsoever. Nose: Red currents, fried bacon, wild berries. After some aeration also dried hay and some herbs. Nice and delicate bouquet. Mouth: It had already started to loose some flesh some time ago. In addition some good cherries. Finely grained tannins and a still vivid acidity. It is getting better while drinking. Expressive with some complexity. More a Burgundy than a Bordeaux. To drink now.

Classical developed Bordeaux nose with blackcurrants, barnyard aromas, some leather, hints of herbs, rust and well integrated oak. Medium body, blackcurrants, fine acidity, minerality with some gravelly character, and softened but still somewhat present tannins. A fully developed "old school" wine that definitely isn't a heavyweight, and even seems light by today's standards, but quite enjoyable and drinkable. 89 p.

Because I have some experience with 2000 Maucaillou, I did open this last bottle at 10.00 am having lunch at 03.00 pm. Five hours was a minimum. Opaque brownish yet crimson colour. At first dusty on the nose. With time aromas of humid earth, cooked meat, chalk, dried violets and cherry coke among many others. Complex but on the shy Moulins way of life. Freshness was out on the palate, replaced by a non-sense acidity and bitter tannins where every …

Purchased from Zachy's en primeur on advice from Decanter Magazine for around $15. Deep ruby color in glass. Youthful bordeaux nose as soon as cork is pulled. Drinks smooth from PnP. Chalky tannins after 15 minutes. Medium bodied with balancing acidity. Mostly red currants on palate. Has not lost anything over night.

PnP. Medium bodied palate with touch of red fruits and some drying tannins. Ready now but will probably still improve next 1-2 years, drink well to 2017-2018.

Weekly tasting group #105; Bordeaux (@ SB) : Concentrated and complex bouquet with good dark fruits, beautiful oak, sweet spices and some bell pepper. On the palate red and dark forest fruits, bell pepper, rose hips, spiciness and friendly, round and soft tannin. Re-reading my previous notes, I must say this (blind tasted) bottle was a lovely surprise. A good example that that less high classified wines can age beautifully. This bottle, although not immensely complex, was a real pleasure! …
