Random Samples from Freixenet, Palm Bay, and Rutherford Ranch (The Jug (Upstairs)) : Showing a bit of age and possibly oxidation with a brick red colour with coffee highlights. Dried cherries and earth make up the simple nose. Definitely old world on the palate. Big and dusty tannins off the bat, nice fruit with some cherries, definite oak, and some spiciness towards finish. Somewhat simple, but more serious than the previous wines tasted. 80-82
