Weingut Leipold Pinot Noir trocken

This has a very German Pinot Noir profile to it. Its tasty, in a grass/green way, with some nice red fruit and plenty of minerals. I like, just cannot compare to PN from my usual spots.

I was very excited to open this wine, because of the Silvaners coming from the talented Peter Leipold have been a revelation for me. This wine was working against my previously underwhelming experience with German Pinot Noir and had a stacked deck against it. I knew to give this plenty of air, thanks to the advice from Peter and that was, of course, completely right. The wine burst from the glass with dark cherries in the ripe and deep nose. …

Nice pinot here, lots of bright crunchy red berries on the nose with some spice notes, clean and crisp palate with medium plus acidity and bright red fruit feel through out. This is not not meant as a criticism but it did feel a little Californian esq which surprised me

Spiced cherries and organic soil, with some wisps of red flowers coming in and out. Deep and concentrated on the palate, with fresh acidity and chalky tannins.
