A bit over medium bodied with both white and yellow peach upfront, moving to mixed tropical notes through the middle, especially pineapple. This wine opened beautifully with a pale green gold colour and a lifted nose that evolved over many hours revealing white peaches and cherries, lemonade fruit, apricot, custard apple and preserved pineapple with touches of honey and greengage. The palate is quite rich with the same complexities of fruit filling the mouth and balanced by a fine acid and dry extract finish with touches autumn herbs. This is just delicious with nice botrytis touches that lift the complexity and interest.

The 2012 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese from Prüm is drinking well today. Clearly a warmer and slightly riper vintage, but the nose here is quite clear with no petrol or kerosene. Fresh pineapple, peach jam, lychee and honey melon on opening, with more raspberry, blueberry, Maracuja, acacia honey, honeysuckle and mint with air. Very well balanced and quite long with good freshness. Now - 2050

Gave this bottle time and air, but it never revealed a great side, seemed thin and tired, plenty of faint fruit, very smooth and creamybut to much was missing, did not last the course, I have another and can only hope for better things, cork was poor and crumbly, maybe that had an effect, though the level was still good?

rather muted nose. in combo with lack of acidity and leaking/mold at cork=possibe heat-damaged bottle. that said, it's a pleasant glass. the fruit is intense and complex: green apple candy, canned papaya and lemon peel. botrytis alongside a (pleasant and mild) pithy bitterness **second bottle 4/09: cork in great condition. still showing similar to the previous bottle. rather muted nose=previous bottle was not heat damaged. just muted. drinks well despite=no data on if it improves over night

375ml bottle opened by AllRed after dinner. Sweet but not quite a dessert wine. Tropical notes with mango, peach and star fruit. Good acidity holding everything together. Luscious with a vibrant mouth feel. Long lingering finish. Not quite at the heights of the 2001 or 2005 that I've had but still an outstanding wine which will improve with time. 95 points.

Dinner with Friends (Reserve 22, Glen Ellyn) : From a half bottle, opened after dinner. In a word, terrific. Slate, ripe apple, peach and sulphur notes. The palate shows abundant ripe stone fruit and something a bit tropical as well, with a nice vein of acidity.

New Years Eve wine (one of many). What a balance! Completely icy fresh while sticky sweet and utterly delicious. This is a real treat. Also it can handle almost any type of food with this much residual sugar which speaks volumes regarding the inner quality of this wine!

The 2012 Joh Jos Prum Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese is pale gold in color and features a lovely nose of honey, white flowers, lime, and apples. The sweetness is perfectly in balance with the rest of the wine which has an exciting racy streak running throughout. The wine's firm backbone, which melts away to a smooth and creamy finish. Drink anytime over the next 2-3 decades.

Choucroute Garnie at Sarah and Jonathan's (Theater District, Manhattan, NYC) : AP #31. Nose of smoke, golden, honey, apple, rich - maybe getting a bit tired. Sweet, stunning on the palate - mature and creamy, botrytis but melded with great structure. Sugar, spicy, peach - humming, cream soda. Nose - 4.5/6, Palate - 6/6, Finish - 5-5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17-17.5/20.

JJ Prum - 2012 Range (Sydney, Australia) : Lemon, white floral notes, talc and passion fruit make up the nose. The palate is electric, the acidity soaring and heightening your senses. Surges across the palate and I struggled to keep up at times - fortunately the persistence and carry is excellent so there is plenty of time to think about each sip. A very successful wine that was even better with food to accompany it.

PALATE > Musky lime-flesh, lemon-candy, mineralized sweet-tarts, sappy/stony grapefruit, creamy-nectarine, red-cherry, & apricot. Sweet, but with lip-smacking acidity. This is nectar of the gods, or at least those who weren't naughty this year. So delicate and precise, with an amazing length. Tropical fruits, pineapple, mango, hint of coconut, all bound in an acidic layer, so well balanced layered in minerality and just delicious. Rather annoyingly the family polished this off far too quickly. Next bottle I'm going to drink on my own.

Plenty of stinky, sweaty sulphur bullies the wine into the background but relaxes to reveal a thing of rich texture and concentrated fruit. There are some nice underlying exotic fruits and a minerally closure stacked with buckets of acidity.
